I don't say this to downplay the skill of their drummer at all, but it's not uncommon at all for drumming to be just as fast, if not faster and more complex in metal. Just look at the likes of Lamb of God's drummer for one example. That said, I'm 'not' a drummer so it's entirely possible you're picking up niché things which I'm missing, but from a guitarist perspective, it sounds a lot like most extreme drummers.

@@Grigeral Thanks for the comment. I think it's more of how he plays and not what he plays if that makes sense? I have friends that can analyse golf swings to a high level of detail, but to me they all look pretty much the same. I saw Babymetal this year with Anthony Barone on the drums, he's a brilliant player but I prefer the way Hideki plays and was a bit disappointed the Eastern Kami band weren't playing. I think Barone can out-blastbeat Hideki, but like the golf-swing analogy I prefer how Hideki plays what he does. In Japan, it's considered impolite to sing along at a concert. It's thought as rude to the rest of the audience who are there to hear the singer, not hear you. The 2 side girls job is to give the audience a part to chant along with. They're effectively in charge of the crowd participation, like cheerleaders, with parts to sing with and arm movements to emulate.

Kinda the same in Sweden lol, international fans on Twitter always trash us when they come here for concerts, saying that the crowd is dead or how everyone was super rude to them "just for enjoying the concert". This "enjoying the concert" being buying a seat in the stands and then standing throughout the entire concert blocking the view for everyone behind and yelling so people can't hear the music. If you want to stand and dance here it's no problem, but to do that you buy a ticket to the floor. People that buy seats do so in many cases because they can't stand for too long.

Looked like you enjoyed that. :-) The question about who is BABYMETAL is not that easy to answer. Officially, it’s just the three girls (actually two now, since Yui left in Decembre 2017 due to bad health). At the beginning they even performed to backing tracks with a miming band. But I guess hardly anyone would disagree that they wouldn‘t be where they are now without the insanely talented musicians accompanying them now. So, to me BABYMETAL is more than just the girls. This video was recorded in 2015, the girls were 17 and 15 at the time. The video shows an outstanding performance, but they have many songs that are more interesting than this one. Their main feature is the fusion of Metal and (J-)Pop, and a few other genres along the way. In general live videos are the way to go with BABYMETAL, but I‘m going to recommend the official video for „Megitsune“ next. To me it’s their most defining song: kzbin.info/www/bejne/mXyWf4CQdrp-fdk

BABYMETAL's lead singer, Su-metal (Suzuka Nakamoto, or Su), first performed at SSA for the 'Animelo Summer Live 2008' as part of the JPop trio Karen Girl's. She was ten years old. As a vocal coach, I was surprised that you barely mentioned her voice. That was a bit disappointing. I'm glad you liked the drumming though. Hideki Aoyama is blazingly fast, and rock steady. His father had also been a well known drummer in Japan. It would be great if you had a listen to one of Su's solo songs. I would recommend 'Rondo of Nightmare': This 2014 Black Night Budokan performance is kind of a classic: kzbin.info/www/bejne/boildZyCgrONmac 'No Rain, No Rainbow' (from December 2017) is also really good: kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnXKoqJsm8ifn7s

@papa_xan4 жыл бұрын
Great reaction! Babymetal is a unique group, officially classified as kawaii (cute) metal, a genre they created in 2010 when the band was formed. At that time the lead singer, Su-metal, was 12, and the other two girls, Moametal and Yuimetal who cover backing vocals and dance, were 11. They were a sub-unit in J-Pop group called Sakura Gakuin, which was a group and a school for young girls who wanted to have careers in the entertainment industry. It was formed as an experiment by their producer, and wasn't really meant to continue past the point when the girls graduated from the school at 15, but by then they had amassed a large, loyal following. Babymetal became it's own separate thing and have now been around for almost 10 years. The group was formed around the lead singer, who had previously been in a J-Pop group at age 10 that was formed to sing songs for an anime. She already had a strong voice and great stage presence. Being a vocal coach, you should really check out Su-metal's solo songs, as she really stretches her vocal legs, so to speak. They include Akatsuki, which has two versions, a heavy version - kzbin.info/www/bejne/nWOWaGV5arV9gq8 and what is referred to as the Unfinished Version - www.dailymotion.com/video/x7vua37 The latter is just Su singing with a piano backing, and is absolutely beautifully performed. The other solo songs for her are Rondo of Nightmare - kzbin.info/www/bejne/boildZyCgrONmac which features an instrumental intro that shows off the individual talents of the musicians, who are called the Kami Band. Then we have No Rain, No Rainbow, and I recommend the version from her 20th birthday concert in her hometown of Hiroshima - kzbin.info/www/bejne/pnXKoqJsm8ifn7s Finally, we have the song Amore - www.dailymotion.com/video/x7wa6c7 I'd be very interested in hearing your critique of her vocal performances. In any case, great video and I hope to see more!

The girl in the center is SU-METAL (Suzuka Nakamoto) and she is the lead singer. Sometimes she sings alone. The other two do the chorus and the interaction with the public that idols usually do. At this show, on january 2015, they were 17 years old Su and 15 years old Moa and Yui (the other two girls), but they started even younger than 12, on their first performance Yui and Moa were only eleven years old, in this video they had been kicking ass for 4 years already. It is incredible of them being so talented so young. Nowadays Su and Moa are still on rocking and now their voices are more mature as now they are not girls anymore but young metal women. Sadly Yui (the dancer with fluffy cheeks) had to leave the band due to an injury. You seemed to like it, maybe you should try a SU solo song like Akatsuki for example. btw, the KZbin algorithm usually blocks reactions with Road of Resistance and No Rain, No Rainbow from the official channel, so I wish you good luck with it. I was following you for some time and was really expecting for you to watch Babymetal. It was a good video, thank you.

Babymetal is the girls, basically, but it's not just that easily explained. As for who sings, The Crowdsplitter, Old Death-stare, Circlemaker, Our Sainted Lady of the Blood Moon Queen Su-metal is the main singer, the other members are backup. They are to The Crowdsplitter, Old Death-stare, Circlemaker, Our Sainted Lady of the Blood Moon Queen Su-metal what Flavor Flave is to Chuck D. You could say that Babymetal IS The Crowdsplitter, Old Death-stare, Circlemaker, Our Sainted Lady of the Blood Moon Queen Su-metal's group, since the whole concept is based around her. Moimoi (the backup singers) were chosen because they meshed so well with The Crowdsplitter, Old Death-stare, Circlemaker, Our Sainted Lady of the Blood Moon Queen Su-metal both vocally and in personality. However, Babymetal as a whole is greater than the sum of it's parts.

Great reaction and welcome to the three part crazy mix that is a Babymetal Power Metal song, co-written by Dragonforce. This is definitely their fastest song (well, Dragonforce...) and one of the craziest when it comes to musicianship throughout a song. Babymetal is, in my opinion, heavily underreacted to/under-analysed by vocal coaches. You won't find many better vocalists, especially in this kind of music (at least that's what many people who know more than me about singing always say) nowadays. Suzuka Nakamoto, aka Su-Metal is the lead singer. She was born Dec 1997, so she was 17 in this song. Babymetal was "built around her voice". The backup vocalists and dancers are Moa Kikuchi, aka Moametal, born Jul 1999 and Yui Mizuno, aka Yuimetal, born Jun 1999, but she had to leave at the end of 2017 because of health reasons. So these two were 15 here. Since 2019 Moa is supported on stage by one of three rotating dancers without mics, called "Avengers". Except for 8 songs (4 Su-metal solos and 4 songs without Su-metal) this is the lineup and their roles within the songs. The best songs to hear Su's voice would be her solo songs. They are more serious and focus on her vocals and the band. Akatsuki, Rondo of Nightmare and No Rain No Rainbow are available on KZbin, the fourth, Amore, is not. If you want to hear her voice better than in Road of Resistance and see all three on stage, Karate and Ijime Dame Zettai would be two that are available on KZbin.

So much can be said about BABYMETAL regarding their history, their awards & achievements, their triumphs & their tragedies. l know because I've said much about these things myself. However, for myself, at least pre-BABYMETAL, I was more jaded & cynical. What really moved the needle for me is this: BABYMETAL & the KAMI Band, this mashup that SHOULD NOT WORK, have become IMPORTANT to me. They energize me & lift my heart, they make me smile, they make me HAPPY, they make me want to share them with total strangers because they are boundless FUN & I want others to experience that JOY. This is not unintentional on their end. Two BABYMETAL philosophies, unofficial or otherwise: 1. "Don't think. FEEL." 2. 2:11 Close, but not quite. Babymetal concerts have what they call a mosh'sh pit, which is a mosh pit without the violence that you usually find in a true mosh pit. 3:56 This is nothing compared to, for instance, black metal, or even some thrash metal. 6:04 At the time of this concert, Yuimetal and Moametal (the two with headset mics) were 15-16, and Su-metal was 17. 10:27 Babymetal is just Su-metal, Yuimetal, and Moametal (or, now, Su-metal, Moametal, and a rotating cast of backup dancers). Their backup band is called the Kami Band, and the lineup changes occasionally, depending on availability (or based on what continent they're touring, like when they toured the US last year and had an all-American lineup). All the musicians in the Kami Band are famous musicians in their own right. For instance, Takayoshi Ohmura, one of the guitarist, has worked with Marty Friedman, and is a founding member of the band Cross Hard. 10:40 Yui and Moa's headset mics aren't for show, they do sing, but Su is the lead vocalist. This isn't just a Su-metal solo song, but they do have a couple. She did a solo, heavier version of Soul's Refrain from the first Neon Genesis Evangelion film, and she also did a soft song called "No Rain, No Rainbow", which was uploaded to KZbin shortly after Kami Band guitarist Mikio Fujioka died, so there's a theory among fans that, even though the song was from before Fujioka-san died, the upload was a tribute to him. There's some amazing metal and hard rock music coming out of Japan these days. Band-Maid is another extremely talented group of ladies who are super skilled musicians with two top-notch vocalists in the band. I really think you'd dig their live performance of their song "Wonderland."

song is written (or cowritten dont know) by dragonforce and that part is faster then the fastest part in a dargonforce song xD so jaeh its HELLA fast xD this is a mix of j-pop and metal its just so good xD there are SO many good videos of babymetal to watch, Headbanger or karate would be the obious next choices (headbanger live and karata i would choose the official version) also a good video would be megitsune (also here the official video) which is considered by many the best song of them xD for their age: when they started with babymetal (they did other stuff before) Su (the main singer) was 12 and the other two girls was 10. That was in 2010. THis song is from 2015 i think if i remeber so su is 17 and the other two girls are 15. always + or - one year. now su is 23 and moa and yui (ther other two) are 21. Yui sadly left the band in 2018 because she was ill (at least the official reason) and now we have a changing 3rd dancer (who is not singing background) its my favorite band and for a reason the FIRST ASIAN BAND to ever top the top100 billboard charts for rock albums with their newest 2019 album "babymetal" are the three girls and the band is named the KAMI band, later you can also see some songs where they have solo parts they are some of the best musicians in the world

Excellent reaction - made me smile as you really seemed to enjoy it :D Would be nice if at the end you could make a comment on *how the heck* do they move so much and manage to sing. I know they've been at it for ten years, but I'd still like to know if you have any /insider knowledge/ on techniques they could be using. Hope to see you in many more BABYMETAL reactions, and I hope you have as much fun as you seemed to here.

I am not an expert, but I believe it is a combination of being extremely fit, training and practice and also working the choreo, and breathing to fit in with the lyrics

Chris Harris They are trained to never show fatigue or discomfort which includes mouth breathing, wiping away sweat or fixing hair. Disrespectful to the audience. They are trained by an amazing choreographer who also teaches them the traditional ways.

speaking of crowd interaction, the most joyous concert moment i've ever experienced was seeing the australian band 'Karnivool'. they have a really loyal and enthusiastic fanbase. they played this show in such a tiny venue last i saw them but it blew the roof off and everyone there seemed to be singing back the lyrics to their song 'new day'. it was something special. they're an interesting band to critique and the singer is rather unique, very soaring uplifting stuff as well as softer vulnerable sounds.

Awesome first time reaction! I predict you'll have a joyous time descending down the fox hole! Babymetal are usually composed of 3 girls with Su-metal performing the lead vocals and back up dances and the other 2 performing lead dances and backup vocals. Yui-metal and Moa-metal were the other 2 original members but Yui left in 2018 due to health concerns. In 2019 she was replaced by 3 girls they called "The Avengers" who each take turns filling in Yui's old spot. Moa is still a full-time member. This performance took place in 2015 when Suzuka had just turned 17 and Yui & Moa were just 15 (not 12 lol). Because of their Japanese genes you can be forgiven for believing they were younger. Although, part of it is due to being westerners, we are used to girls being sexualized at a very young age so when we see a teenage girl who isn't sexualized we tend to mistake them for being much younger than they really are. Thankfully, the girls in Babymetal were never sexualized, even today when they are in their 20's. Babymetal's music is a fusion of Japanese J-Pop idol music with Heavy Metal (and occasionally they like to mix in other random genres as well, everything from dubstep to rap to ska to reggae). They call their special style of music "Kawaii-metal" meaning "cute-metal" and they were the first to pioneer this new genre. They first debuted in 2010 when the girls were only 11-12. They were chosen by a man called Koba-metal, a producer who worked at Amuse talent agency where the girls were signed to. Amuse normally specialized in idols but Koba was a metal head at heart and had a brilliant idea to combine these 2 genres. He chose Suzuka for her powerful voice and Yui & Moa for their cherubic appearances and unmatched kawaii-ness. At the time they formed Babymetal, the girls didn't even know what heavy metal music was. Nobody expected Babymetal to get very far, including all the other execs at Amuse. But Koba had a vision and he put his heart and soul into training these girls, with almost no funding or help from other people. Long story short, they are still going strong 10 years later and have been on 6 world tours. Sorry for turning this into a wall of text!

A great reaction! I'm glad that you enjoyed your experience. This group is really fantastic. They have a lot of dynamic content to dive into. To name a couple, I suggest Megitsune, Karate, and especially for some of the Kami band spot light check out "BABYMETAL - Rondo of Nightmare Live @ Budokan Black Night". Road of Resistance was partially worked on with members from Dragonforce. Of which if you have not heard anything from them I would also highly suggest "Through the fire and the flames". Have a great day!

Thanks Ken for doing this reaction ! Babymetal are a 'new' live experience, one of the best in the world, they have awards and everything to proof it. New is relative, they've been around for 10 years, they really did start when they were 12 and 13 ! And Yuimetal does look like she is 12 ! :-) She is the 'babyface' of Babymetal, which kind of appropriate with such a name. But officially Babymetal has nothing to do with age, but about creating a new genre of metal. And when you say Babymetal in Japanese it's like a pun as it rimes with heavy metal: 'bebi-metal' and 'hebi-metal'. They are 15 in this show, Su-metal was 17. They were also known as the most popular teenagers from Japan in the world (they tour around the world as well, their 3rd album reached #1 on the US Billboard rock album chart, highest for any Asian band). They aren't teens anymore though. They are young ladies now and more experienced (bigger stages, bigger audiences, metal/rock festival crowds, and famous festivals like Glastonbury).

Thank you for visiting Babymetal ^^ Yes they have legit metal, legit vocal, and egit performance. As a vocalist tho, who you'd like to keep eye of is SUZUKA NAKAMOTO, the only person in Babymetal billed with Vocal duty (+dance). The other two are scream + dance. Sure they sing sometimes and have their own songs, but only to certain degree. Although most Babymetal songs centred on Suu's vocal ability, some notable ones where her vocal shines brightest may include: - AKATSUKI - NO RAIN NO RAINBOW - AMORE Looking forward for more Babymetal contents ^^

Nice reaction!! There is no on-stage banter at BM's concert. The girls sing and dance for nearly 90 minutes. And the Road of Resistance we saw this time is the last song of the show. You can see how much energy🔥 these girls have!! (´∇`) Next, I'd like "Megitsune", please. I recommend watching the music video first. - BABYMETAL - メギツネ - MEGITSUNE (OFFICIAL) This song is quite Japanese and has a nice groove to it. Every BM song gives you surprise, energy and happiness💖 And I recommend a live performance afterwards. The power of the three princesses, the performance of the 神バンド(kami band), and their unity with the audience are the highlights of the show. - Megitsune (LIVE "LEGEND 1997") I hope you continue to enjoy your BABYMETAL. Put your Kitsune🦊 up! from Japan. (Translation by DeepL)

Everybody should see a Babymetal video. They're so unique. Even the bands that try to imitate them or are inspired by them can't do all the things they do. They were formed in Oct 2010. It's exactly one week from their 10 year anniversary. You might love it or you might not but the only way to know is to see it. There is nothing else like it.

Nice Reaction !, but "Be Warned !" Once You let them Grow on You , You'll Never Gonna Be Able to Get Rid of Them ! ;-) ''Babymetal''' ('One word !) refers to "the birth of a new kind of metal" they call ''Kawaii Metal'' ("Cute Metal" ;-) "Kawaii Metal" is Mix of J-Pop & "Every" kind of Metal !! (The name in fact has nothing to do with the age of the girls,) If you're willing to do More Babymetal ? just be prepared & Buckle up ! because your in it for A Hell of a Ride ;-)

Not only "Every" kind of metal, but other genres also (rap, ska, folk, Indian,...). As for the name, on the Babymetal Wiki Fandom site, it says: "According to Kobametal, Babymetal's name came to him by revelation (as a "divine message"). It is a play on the words "heavy metal", as, in Japanese, the word "baby" (ベビー bebī) rhymes with "heavy" (ヘビー hebī). "Baby" may indicate cuteness, "metal" - intensity. Also, he has come to like interpreting it as "newborn metal"." Not sure if it's true, but it would make sense (with the exception of the revelation part, but then again, you never know 🤔).

It's a master-class of drumming. It would even be one thing to rip this as a lone track in a studio, something entirely different to be so precise after over an hour of already furiously playing (this performance being the show's closer).
