Improving the Lope (A Lesson w/ Lisa)

Today I'm working with Lisa Gentile on improving her horse's lope.
Posture and Body Position in the Lope:
- SIT UP STRAIGHT: leaning to the inside will make the horse lean, and will shove them to the outside of the circle
- LOOK UP: looking where you are going will make you sit deeper in the saddle, and will guide the horse where you want to go
Getting the Horse in Position:
- Push the hip to the inside of the circle to encourage the horse to get on the correct lead
- At this stage in training, don't hold onto a frame and babysit the horse, but start to let go, and just use the reins as needed to get the horse better set up
Lope Departures:
- Set the horse's hip slightly into the circle
- Sit deep and drive forward
- Keep the face soft
- When you push, if the horse throws her head up, really push with your legs until she comes back soft
- When she gives you a few strides soft, come back and do it again

I too have noticed the difference when I adjust my seat. I would like your advice though as to how to get a horse to ride in the first place. I have never had to deal with this portion of trai9nign when I work with a horse but I have a 12 year old who is a show horse and only now learning to wear the bridle and ride. She knows every leg and rear cue out there and even some fancy western dressage exercises; however, she will not just follow her nose and ride in a straught line.
