I know Fremer is not everyone's taste, but the guy really is analog's great champion. He stuck with rekkids all those years when they were no longer "in." I thank him for that and always value his insights. Also, wow, a pre-RIAA microgroove record. I admit I did not entertain that possibility. I assumed the LP came along and everyone said, "Okay, gang, time to use one curve. No more of this 'every label has its own curve' nonsense we've gotten accustomed to with 78s" (and it's not even always 78 RPM). But I forgot that the LP was Columbia's baby while RCA had 45, and these two were competitors.

What a treat again. I like Fremer, Guttenberg, Micallef, great info all around, entertaining, funny, and very opinionated and sometimes hostile points of view. I'm learning a lot. My aunt was an au pair in NYC in 1963-1964, came back to Finland with a few records. Grant Green Am I blue (released June 1964 so probably the first pressing), Somethin' Else, Mongo Santamaria Watermelon Man, Ray Charles Recipe for Soul, Sinatra-Basie a historic musical first, Ella Mack the Knife, West Side Story, and something from Getz and Mulligan. All these records were lost in the early 90's.

Hi Michael and Ken, The Oliver Nelson “Blues and The Abstract Truth”, the Ampar release is the Original with the first cover. I had a chance to buy it and I researched that record to death and I slept on it and I kick myself every day for not buying it. I’m an avid collector and certain labels are my specialty, which are Bluenote, Impulse, Columbia, Cti and Black Saint, just to name a few. I own that Stanley Turrentine album that Michael is holding, great record. The older Cti have great sound quality and are still not expensive.
@analoguecity34542 жыл бұрын
Record's are like time traveling to me personally! An ALL ANALOG record is like the recording is a stoppage of time! It does take me there literally In my mind! A hi resolution file cut record is really good, but it doesn't quite pull me into that time ( and that studio ) at that time the way An all analog cut record does! Hard to explain!

Stephen Mead Ha ha ha!!! My first SCA-80Q was also a kit. My dad helped me build it (he was an amateur radio guy, knew how to read schematics and solder) - never had a problem with it, but eventually it died or something. My second one was a factory-built unit that a friend gave to me, works well ... within its limits.

Ken Micallef Jazz Vinyl Audiophile. Let me see? Telling people that he can hear the difference between £$18000 and $30000 cable. Healing praise on equipment that manufacturers “lend” him for testing. Listening to his extremely expensive setup in a room that looks like a hobo lived in and expecting us to believe that he can pick out all the nuisances and highlights of that said equipment. Face it, you haven’t a leg to stand on. He is a major propagator of the lie that all these silly expensive bits and pieces really make a difference that he can discern. He is a 70 year old man and a self proclaimed expert. It is in his interest to spout this nonsense and you and those like you are either sicker enough to believe it or are in on the con.
