Kenmore 1913 Stretch Stitch not working Sewing Machine FIX

Set your stitch length to the longest setting. 6 stiþches per inch on Kenmore model 1913.
Clean and oil on both sides of the pivoting stitch length/reverse cam follower, to get your stretch stitches working correctly. A paintbrush or Qtip dipped in rubbing alcohol, helps dissolve old sticky oil preventing full movement.
Next, oil both sides of the pivoting stitch length/reverse cam follower, with Tri Flow oil, or sewing machine oil. Work it repeatedly, by pushing reverse, throughout the cleaning and oiling process, to get it cleaned and oiled deep in between the parts.
Repeat cleaning and oiling until the pivoting stitch length/reverse cam follower snaps back immediately, every time you release the reverse button. If it moves slowly, it needs more cleaning and oiling.

Rebecca, I could use some advice. I am trying to get a Kenmore 1315 working. The feeddogs are not moving automatically. There is a bar under the bed at the front of the machine which does not appear to be moving. When I loosen a screw liberating it from the bar coming down from the cam i can move the feed dogs forward and backward easily but when screwed back to this vertical bar I have it does not move. Can you suggest a course of action. I could try videoing the action (or lack thereof)..

Hi Becky. I have started collecting SM's the past year or so,,, so I have amassed a nice collection. I have the venerable Kenmore 90, with the red cams. I recently saved a Kenmore 32 (158.320) from a recycling scrap yard's pulverizer (yes people just pitch em for $1.80 in metal) The cams for a Mod 90 wont work on the Mod 32,,, the holes in the red Mod 90 cams are too big to engage the skinny'r cam shaft im the Mod 32. Mod 90 hole=3/8 of an inch Mod 32 cam shaft measures 5/16 of an inch. Got any tips/suggestions with my delemma ?
