Kenmore Elite Catalyst Full Cycle - Whitest Whites

This video is partially a request and partially not. Today i decided to wash as many white towels as I could put into the machine. This was full to the top of the tub and i still think it could’ve fit more towels. Today’s cycle was a modified Whitest Whites. I hope you all enjoy and if you have any requests, comment that below!
Cycle Selections: Warm/Warm - 8 minute agitation - Extra Large load - Whitest Whites - Catalyst treatment
Detergent: Hex “crisp linen” - Downy Refresh

Oh god this is awesome. Love the Catalyst machines. Like you said, the Catalyst sequence was very short here, not sure why. This machine actually fixes my biggest complaint with the DD machines, which was the spray rinse AFTER the rinse cycle. You can actually tell here that it does make a difference!

I’ve found that this machine is very good at rinsing, due to the double spray rinse in both the first and final spin, as well as the 4 minute deep rinse. I’ve never had any issues with it not rinsing the clothes properly. The only time it doesn’t is when I add too much detergent, but all I have to do is set it to second rinse.

Great video! I love the Catalyst Washers. I remember the agitator you showed at the end in the home version washers. They were usually in the "lower line" washers and were Mustard in color. I never understood why they only offered them in the "lower line" washers because I thought it was a fantastic Agitator! They made two versions. One that was a solid piece. One that was not solid and could pop off at the base of the wash plate. I guess they did that for people that would overload the washer? Fun videos! Thanks for taking the time to share!

This is really a solid performing washer. I would definitely like this for myself. I’m not sure how much the catalyst period enhances cleaning performance (gimmicky) but the layout and options still make this an impressive choice.

I’m pretty sure it varies the amount of catalyst time based on the cycle and also the amount of water needed. The catalyst treatment has its own water pressure sender and can detect the amount of water being sprayed over the clothes. I think due to the towels, it stopped the treatment so early since it would’ve needed to add a lot of water to spray the optimum amount of water over the clothes. I personally think it does a great job at cleaning, and provides a cleaning option for just about every type of fabric!

Yea I was wondering why it stopped so soon. But that makes sense so it doesn’t have to spin a full tub of wet towels and water. Less strain on motor

Is there any difference between heavy duty and whitest white? And also does this machine have a prewash option

No, this machine does not have prewash, but you can set it to soak for up to an hour, and you can set a “delay start” for up to 9 hours. As for the difference in cycle, i’ts based off of what the machine sets as a “default” for when that button is pressed. When you set it to whitest whites, it pre-sets to a 12 minute wash, Hot-cold, extra rinse, and catalyst treatment. I plan to make a video in the future showing each cycle set to what the board defaults to, rather than me adjusting it.

@@DrummerboysWashersAndMore That agitator will do fine. Just don't pack the machine too full and you will be fine. Film that agitator. Want to see that in a white tub.👍

One QUICK question. Do you ever use any chlorine bleach, and if you don’t, may I ask why? It would be nice to see that timed bleach dispenser work as well. Just Curious… -Charles-

I have not yet used chlorine bleach, mostly because I haven’t thought about adding any, and because of the lack of hot water. However next time I do a load of whites i will make sure to add some!

I rarely ever use more than one rinse. All the towels came out without any residual detergent in them, so I dont see the need to do a second rinse.

why? they are really reliable! And when they aren’t, they are easy to fix!
