Fredericksburg is one of the most amazing and haunted towns I have ever been in. It was OLD when the War of 1861-65 ravaged it. Well worth the drive to see it.

I toured Kenmore about 20 years ago and it was a rainy day so my Aunt and I were the only visitors. The minute I stepped inside the Front Door I felt at home, like I had visited there very often before. The Interpreter became intrigued and let me go all over the house when she found out Betty, George and I have same Grandparents (12th Generations back). Also when I visited Gunston Hall I felt totally at home and knew what the rooms looked like once I stepped in. Found out it was my 12th or so Granddaddy George Mason's house on my Dad's side of the family. Pretty amazing.

The gaps on the side are called putlog holes. The Palmer House in Colonial Williamsburg has the same feature. At Christmastime they fill the holes with apples.

My ancestor George Hume layed out Fredricksburg and founded Episcopal church. Called him immigrant George. George Hume. Exiled to colonies after 1715 Jacobite uprising. Father was lord Hume of wedderburn Scotland. Spent 2 yrs teaching George Washington land surveying. Maybe sparked the rebel in him over campfire talks.

Could you do Moss Neck Manor? I know it's privately owned so might have to get permission.
