Thank you SO much for the podcast and KZbin channel. After so many months of filling my head with nothing but news, I discovered Maine Cabin Masters. Watching the show and this podcast has brought back a smile to my face and a vision of life focused on working with your hands outdoors, making a difference. Maine is the only state I haven’t visited so that’s on my bucket list now.

I know this aired months ago, but I’m a new listener and just heard this. I’m really glad I found the podcast! I also wanted to add that we had a ‘camp’ in Vermont. It was a cabin on a lake. We always referred to it as the camp. I think it’s just a term that is used for land and house in the woods, on a lake...etc.

Sooo that's why " up to camp". In calif camp would be like a summer camp. It would be cabins here. Just love all your friendships and make overs if camps and Maine history. Keep it up. Peace and love to you all♡

To answer your question on why cabins in Maine are refereed to as camps... possibly around the turn of the 19th and 20th century people would go tent camping in the summer months and as time passed and properties were improved with permanent structures the term camp just remained. I grew up in upstate NY and some properties people owned were refereed to a camps or cabins depending on its' location, so maybe this might be an eastern states reference? Where as I know in the western US, cabins are refer to as family cabins or by location/destination where the cabin is say like the cabin at Big Bear, or the lake cabin or say a fishing, ski or hunting cabin...

Ice time! My mom grew up in Teulon, Manitoba. She was so frustrated about getting ice time that she started the girls ice hockey team in the early 40s so the boys couldn’t dominate the rink anymore. She would have loved you guys. Her favorite shows at the end of her life were Prison Break and Ice Truckers. You would have fit I. the lineup perfectly. 😂❤️

In New York state, in the Adirondacks, they are called camps. In the Finger Lakes region and other parts of the western part of the state, they are cottages.
