I remember the wry smile on my guitar teachers face when he asked what chord book i had. My reply - Chord Chemistry! I also remen,ber convincing myself that I would learn every chord in the book! That was 30 years ago. So glad you are doing this - I think a video series of CC is equivalent to counting every grain of sand in the Sahara! Well done sir. Love it!!!

@naturemassive Thanks so much for sharing that story! 😄 I can definitely relate to that feeling-"Chord Chemistry" really does feel like the musical equivalent of counting grains of sand in the Sahara, but what an incredible journey it is! 30 years in, and it’s still revealing new depths for all of us. So glad you’re enjoying the series, and I hope it helps you revisit some of those chords! Keep up the great work, and happy picking! 🎸

Hey, loving this series so far. Just a small correction for those following along: at 18:03, when Jason plays the C major 13th chord, he plays a Gb/F#-- which would be the b5 or +4 of that chord-- and refers to it as the 13th of that chord. The 13th of a C major 13th chord would be an A (5th fret 1st string or 10th fret 2nd string in this case).

@JaxonBurn Thanks so much for pointing that out and for following along so closely! I really appreciate the feedback. The details definitely matter in a deep dive like this. Glad you're enjoying the series so far, and I'll make sure to keep things as clear as possible moving forward. Keep up the great work, and feel free to reach out if anything else pops up! 🎸 Happy picking! -Jason

Are these chords were suppose to use or are Those notes that spell em out ?
@JasonCareyGuitar25 күн бұрын
Hi David, great question! In this series, we're focusing on using the chord voicings as written in Ted Greene's book. The notes that make up the chords are the ones that define them, so we’re exploring how to play those voicings on the guitar. Each voicing or chord shape is made up of specific notes that spell out the chord’s harmony. If you have more questions or need further clarification, feel free to ask! 🎸

Keep up the good work! I've had a look ahead at some of the chord sequences and had a go at playing them , there's some pretty tough finger positions required, but i'm sure following along will help overcome difficulties......as well as good quality practice.:) 😁
@JasonCareyGuitar2 ай бұрын
@cognitiveburp Thank you so much for your kind words! I'm glad to hear you're diving into the chord sequences-those challenging finger positions can be tricky, but with practice, you'll definitely get the hang of them! Remember, every bit of effort counts toward progress. Keep up the great work, and enjoy the journey! 🎸😊

That Cm7 at 3:30 is a stretch I'm pretty sure I'll never span.
@JasonCareyGuitar2 ай бұрын
That Cm7 can definitely feel like a big stretch at first! Finger stretching exercises are a great idea, and it’s amazing how much progress you can make with daily practice. Keep at it, and you'll be surprised how comfortable those stretches get over time. Happy Picking! 🎸💪

Are these chords we can use or the sound s that make them up?
@JasonCareyGuitarАй бұрын
Great question, David! These are definitely chords you can use in your playing. We're exploring both the voicings and the underlying sounds that give each chord its unique character, which will open up more creative possibilities for your music. Let me know if you'd like any specific examples or applications explained further!

When he says "flat 9", is that a whole tone or semi tone flatted?
@JasonCareyGuitarАй бұрын
Great question! When we say "flat 9," we're referring to a note that’s a semitone (half step) below the 9th. So if you're working off a major scale, it would be a whole step up from the root, then flattened by a half step to get that minor 9th interval. Hope that clears it up, and thanks for sticking with the series!

Jason I think I have worked out why your voice volume is fluctuating....when you play the guitar at the same time as you speak your voice volume decreases sigificantly...if that makes sense.
@JasonCareyGuitar26 күн бұрын
Thanks for pointing that out, Kim! 🎧 You’re absolutely right-it sounds like the compression settings I’m using might be prioritizing the guitar when both my voice and playing are happening at the same time. I’ll revisit the mix and try to balance things better in future videos. Your feedback is so helpful-thank you for taking the time to share it! 🙏

I’m sure you probably know but I can’t help but mention that your 6th string is being pulled by the magnets in your pickups (due to the pickups height) and sounding two notes at once.
@JasonCareyGuitar6 күн бұрын
Yeah, I appreciate that, I got that set in future videos in this series. Thank you for opening this discussion. If you would like to talk more about this phenomena, I am sure some of our guitar playing friends are interested to learn more! Happy picking, Jason

Hey @matthew.j.mcpherson, I get that this part may seem straightforward to some, but what I love about Ted Greene’s work is how it reveals more the deeper you dive. Whether you're a beginner or more advanced, there’s always something new to discover or refine. Thanks for watching-hope you stick around for the later parts, where we really get into the complex stuff! 😄🎸
