There was no awkward egomania about Jimmy Stewart- just a sincere and genuine and warm manner. Conveyed in his film performances as well as interviews. That’s why he’s one of my favourite actors. Very few stars around these days who show the same level of humility and approachability.

He is one of those classic Hollywood actors that I grew up watching their films, and so, he's kind of part of my childhood, and of me.

What a man…what a tremendous, down to earth, clear thinking, boy-scout hearted, talented, hard working, head not in the clouds and feet on the ground man…thank you Mr. Stewart for your values, devotion and your example…🙂

Jimmy Stewart was a true American hero. Served in the Army from 1941 to 1947, then in the Air Force from 1947 to 1968. Retired as a Brigadier General. Plus, he made great movies before, during, and after his military career. He is one of the best actors known to man. Rest in peace, sir. God bless you, sir.

Anyone know the year this was filmed? Jimmy Stewart is a treasure of a person, and a movie star. We are all lucky he will be forever captured within his movies for all future generations to enjoy.

He referenced the recent 50th anniversary of This Happened One Night, which was released in 1934. So I guess the interview was in 1984 (or very soon after).

@chrislaw4189 Thank you. Good catch by the way.

Also, towards the end of the interview, Stewart said he was 76. As he was born in 1908, this also ties in with 1984.

Great interview. I see they also posted an interview with Fred Astaire. Hope they post more Kennedy Center classic movie star interviews from the 1970s and 80s.

What a humble, lovely man he was; brought down to earth charm to every role he had. I loved him in the Glenn Miller Story and It's A Wonderful Life. I miss you Mr Stewart, RIP Sir ❤

I'm sure there's got to be some section of the midwest where people talk like Jimmy Stewart, but I have yet to meet one with quite his accent. Like Robert Redford, I just like listening to him talk. This 'spat' or issue he had with Donna Reed, I can't help but think got wildly overblown. His favorite movie is with her. There may have been a time when they were both frustrated the movie didn't get the reception they felt it deserved. But of course that changed.

Did i just watch an interview over an hour without hearing the name 'Donna Reed?'
