Kenny Barron has an incredible touch and his comping, chord voicings and single lines swing hard with great taste, always in service of the music. This is great Jazz. Bob Cranshow and Allan Dawson are a great and a perfect fit into this Trio.

I have been aware of Kenny for nearly forty years now and have seen him several times in venues large and small. His playing is so effortless and beautiful. He has made so many recordings of his own and with others that we're very lucky we have so much music of his to enjoy. This is a wonderful performance.

In general.we take Bob so ightly.Because today most bass player use a special microphone directly on the bass ,and with the strings lowered the technique become easier.So the technical difiiculties are somehow behind them,and they are free to concentrate on music.After all they forget choise of notes ,quality of sound and the manner in which the notes are given in continuity. So,Bob has long been accepted as one of the most tasteful and best equipped in the jazz world.

Jazz with class and style! This pure and crystal tone is for admiration. It sounds so simple and complicated in one - the modernistic lines are just great! This has made me verry happy! :)
@MarkTarmannPianoCheck_it_out2 жыл бұрын
"simple and complicated in one": the bluesy swing and simpler motifs, then sophisticated harmonies.. But the time and form never is baffling.We non Berkelee students know where in the song we are. .I dinnae understand why jazz must be totally incomprehensible to be acceptable to many players. 7/8 bah. Save it for your senior recital and then leave it there.

I love Kenny very much, but I can't understand why he is considered downright "great". He always seemed to me a wonderful, bright mainstream musician. But his musical language is not as unique as Evans' or Jarrett's.
@jazzlrdx9944 Жыл бұрын
@@Robert63675 I think that he is considered great because of how simply masterful he is. Kenny’s command of the music is like no one else and his knowledge of the jazz tradition goes deeper than most. While he may not have the innovations of Evans or the otherworldly invention of Jarrett he stands out due to how, quite frankly perfect his playing is. That is why he is a great in my eyes.

Let's celebrate his extraordinary gift -- he can do less to create more and summon more whenever it matters to help keep it changing rather than more of the same.The reigning Baron and Lord of jazz piano.

They're brilliant. He likes to use the circle of fifths in other ways throughout the solos, too. His technique is flawlessly crisp. Each note--no matter how fast--is clean and lets the piano ring. I like Oscar, too; however, Barron plays more from ideas than from runs--it is true improvisation at its best.

I was thinking, it would be fun to have someone like that in your living room to explain, how you do it right, on that tune (Autumn Leaves). Then again, you could just listen to Kenny and try to pick up on it cause it's right on track and then even if you just got "some" of it, you would still be way better off for it, than you were before!
