Great album. And I appreciate the way that you made the video. Giving us closeups of the album cover so that we can read the notes reminds me of one of the great joys of owning vinyl - learning about the performer/band through reading the liner notes while memorizing the music. Excellent.

Kenny had recently left the Jazz Messengers , Dorham wanted too front his own group . The very underated J.R. Montrose ,Dick Katz ,Sam Jones and Arthur Edgehill . This verticaly the same band as Live at Cafe Bohemia changing out Katz for Bobby Timmons, also adding Kenny Burrell on gutiar . This was a swingin band ,great straight ahead Jazz . Everyone in fine form . One of my all time greatest trumpet players in my humble oppinon.

E suonano tutti divinament! E J.R. Moterose è un grande sassofonista muscoloso.

Indeed a bloody great “hard-boppish” effort with Kenny and his men. But the “Bohemia” sessions are, imo, by far his very best. They have a “harder-edge” with the great Bobby Timmons joining this fabulous group. Arthur Edgehill, who played on many Shirley Scott sessions, is one of my favourite drummers. Sadly the Jazz Prophets didn’t last very long. But this great album is certainly ‘reeling” with the finest of swingers. Dig & Enjoy& Cheers!

TONE B HURT About the mid 50’s the be- bop started changing in the hard-bop style. Groups like Blakey, Silver, Cannonball, just to name a few. Kenny was among these fantastic Jazz men in transition, so to say. So what we are hearing here are subtle chances breeching into a newer style. But listen to Kenny’s live-sessions at the “Cafe Bohemia”, and that’s were this style chances becomes very evident. Enjoy this bloody-ripper & Cheers!
