Kenny’s playing was so overwhelming that the musicians who played along with him went to another level as well.

Kenny is one of the greatest to be counted on one hand. Caught him live just once, had to be in the Fifties. At Birdland. Gawd he was on that night, looking with mock amazement down the bell of his horn when he'd surprised himself with something he'd played. I had to smile. All these years, and I've not forgotten. Somethin' else, ol' Kenny!

No one plays trumpet like Kenny Dorham. His lines reflect such unique intelligence, creativity, and emotion. Beautiful and original voice.

It's from Kenny Dorham- The Shadow of Your Smile on the West Wind label. If you google that you will see where you can get it.
