Why oh why did they not appoint Jackie as England manager. Why, he was a northerner. North off north northerner! Cant believe he's left us. Leeds were the ONLY team where it was One for All & All for One. And they were disliked & unloved because they had this unique thing. Players stayed & were reluctant to move on but eventually some have too but the be knighted ones stayed until they died in their playing days harnesses. Jack was one & he could have carried on a bit longer, of course you can say thats was Leeds weakness of having too many long serving but still top players. Jack should have took over from Don Revie. Was he asked or maybe he would honour his M'boro contract. If only..

They say clough was the best manager England never had I disagree big Jack Charlton all day

Jack wasn’t a yes man. Same reason Cloughie didn’t get it. Ron Greenwood and Bobby Charlton (great men though they were and did quite well) were more the FA “type”

He applied for the England job and didn’t even get a formal rejection! Says it all: England’s loss was Ireland’s gain.
