Ive followed Kenny Omega forever. Since he was a "nobody" in Winnipeg. Seeing him sooo skinny in Thunder Bay putting on 4-5 star matches. He is one of the best wrestlers in the world. Class act who will kill it in NJPW.

he just signed an exclusive deal for njpw and wont be wrestling in DDT anymore, also its pretty hard to tell rankings of promotions in japan but id still think ajpw or noah would be at the 2 spot because of their tv

I saw his match with Alex Shelly for the Fukuoka show. Holy crap can both of them wrestle. I think Kenny's on the right track as a Bullet Club heel and that he has held the Jr. Heavyweight Title for awhile speaks quite well of his standing in the company. I think him being able to speak Japanese is also a major boon for him (its hilarious watching the Bullet Club take questions from the NJPW interviewers while expecting Yujiro to translate, only to have to defer to Kenny for help). I'm guessing Kenny wants to get to that Stan Hansen level of Gaijin-over but Stan was a different beast from a different era

Space Panda What's the situation with NOAH and AJPW? I know NOAH has been losing a lot of fans and AJPW aren't as big as they once used to be.
@Sacrilege839 жыл бұрын
At the end he talks about wanting to be a NJPW regular but didn't want to bring up the fact of foreigners coming in to use Japan as a stepping stone, which he's glad the interviewer brought up the AJ example. Japanese wrestling is cool and all but I would've not given NJPW WK9 a second look if it wasn't for GFW promoting JR's appearance at the event. Then as a WWE fan to find out Harry Smith and Shelton Benjamin are on the card + AJ Styles! I would've never discovered Kenny Omega and the multitude of Japanese wrestlers without the previous mentioned named recognition. Point is, bringing in superstars and putting the belt on them attracts eyes and new fans. Now I'm watching Kenny Omega YT vids because of it.
@LORDUnLuCkY138 жыл бұрын
+Sacrilege83 The thing is, I think AJ would have been content to stay with NJPW. But AJ follows the money, not knocking the guy for that, he is 38 and has a family, and WWE gave him the best offer.

DMCB1994 NOAH and All Japan are barely relevant anymore. Especially All Japan, who drew under 1,500 at Korakuen Hall on the same day DDT drew 2,200 at a later time in the same building. Crazy.
@kristworthless496210 жыл бұрын
yeah. Misawa's death really kind of lowered noahs stock a lot. they lost their way. and as WWE grows and expands into markets, Sports entertainment gets more popular then kings road or strong style every day. DDT is a much more westernized fed. Even Wrestle Kingdom 9 showed a large departure from the stuff that most puro fans were expecting, IMO. for better or worse. But since DDT is already on that train, it allowed them to flourish. Noah and All japan are in the same stuff, and with NJPW being backed by Yukes, they got the money to hold ALL the top talent. Misawa's exodus from AJPW all but killed that promotion.
@senzubean3110 жыл бұрын
I think it's actually incredible All Japan have hung on for this long. It's not like Misawa's exodus was particularly recent. It happened in 2000! The problem both promotions have always had since the split is a lack of depth on the roster. New Japan can put any of Tanahashi, Nakamura and Okada in a match with the likes of AJ Styles, Hirooki Goto and Kota Ibushi and it will draw. Hell, they've got bonafide stars in Tenzan and Kojima wrestling openers. Those guys could still go if they wanted to use them. NOAH don't have that, probably their own fault for promoting Misawa vs Kobashi etc for years instead of building enough new stars. KENTA leaving was a big blow to them, they'd be just about dead in the water if Marufuji decided to jump to New Japan full time.

+Dustin Mirra I dunno about that. He has turned down offers from WWE like 7 times now. 3 times in 2015 alone. He wants nothing to do with WWE
@guynamedkyle8 жыл бұрын
+Toe Cutter: Dude, don't create controversy. At no time has he ever said he wanted nothing to do with WWE! There's a rough ton of reasons he hasn't signed that have nothing to do with hating WWE, one being that he's genuinely happy (creatively, intellectually, etc) where he's at right now. To that, he's also alluded to "unfinished business" in Japan. He said *"Never say never"* when asked if he would ever go to WWE, but implied it would take more than a standard deal. In fact, he said the NXT roster is full of wrestlers and friends he would like to collab with, as well as others not signed to any kind of WWE deal. He's only 32 and you can tell he takes mindful care of himself, has seemingly endless creativity. and he's gaining a lot of devotion from new fans (from both gaming and wrestling worlds) by his own merit - so there's plenty of time and opportunity for him to go in a few years if he wants to.

K. Munoz Create controversy? Hahahahahha
@guynamedkyle8 жыл бұрын
Toe Cutter Haha, carping on semantics? I'll edify: "Controversy", i.e. drama; e.g. baselessly claiming "He wants nothing to do with the WWE" is quite a conclusion to jump to. My intention was solely to relate to you the facts since you are extracting what you feel (or maybe hope?) his actions mean.
@seandavis9088 жыл бұрын
So the comment of one random person on a youtube video is going to start drama.....gotcha. I truly believe he wants nothing to do with WWE at the moment. Of course he wouldn't say that because he is extremely humble and a smart business man. He is smart enough to know bashing WWE isn't going to help him in any way, but he is also smart enough to know going to the WWE any time soon would only hurt his career. It was not a "baseless claim" at all. He has said many times that WWE is not cool any more. He straight up called WWE "gay" in 2 separate interviews I've seen with him. But don't listen to me. I'm just starting drama

He's been in WWE developmental with Heath Slater, he knows it's shit there. You wouldn't be seeing the same Kenny Omega you are currently seeing. WWE puts a strangle hold on independent creativity apparently, it's what's best for business.
