The Bee Gees wrote "Islands in the Stream!" The story is Kenny and Barry Gibb were in the studio recording it and Kenny wasn't into it. Barry says, "We need Dolly Parton." They recorded several hits together.
@sharcrum Жыл бұрын
That's not the way I heard it. Barry said that he called in Kenny to record it because he was close to the studio and Kenny said that it needed to be done as a duet and Kenny immediately said Dolly! So they called her and she came right away!

I saw one of your other vid's so decided to check out your review of Dolly & Kenny. You said you thought Dolly was a 'good person' and you're right. She has had a very long career spanning several different musical genre's, from Country, to Pop, to Rock-n-Roll. Dolly has written numerous songs which were not only big hits for her but, as you found out, one of the biggest was from Whitney Houston (I Will Always Love You). Dolly wrote the song. It made millions for her and Whitney. She is also very generous. She founded "Dolly Parton's Imagination Library", which is a book gifting program that gifts free books to children from birth to age five, within the United States, United Kingdom, Canada, Australia and Republic of Ireland. So far her foundation has gifted over 130 million books to children all over the world.

I found that more people, international and non-white Americans know and heard Island in the Stream as a Beegees song, as they were such a core part of the Disco era. As for Dolly Partonn she's the heart and soul of what Country and Western should be about. She's all heart, all soul and all compassion for her fellow human beings. Among other things, her library programs have done more good for literacy in the South than even the Texas schoolboard has been able to ruin.
