One thing that me and my brother told our mom which has made it easier for us to lay down our opinions was “mom we fight with you and try to show to our perspective because we care about this relationship, and because we want it to keep getting stronger. The day we stop discussing things that bother us, is the day we’ve given up on this relationship, like it has happened with dad” and that really stuck with her. Now she likes it when we fight and get aggressive about our opinions because it tells her that we care. Also as always, beautiful podcast with beautiful people and my favorite, Shreeja!

There’s something so dark, dry and subtle about Shamik’s brand of humour. The fact that he doesn’t succumb to the pressure of mainstream comedy to fit a general audience, instead waiting it out patiently to find an audience that fits his niche and loves his genre for what it is, says so much about him as an artist. May the universe bless a fine writer like him! ♥️ (This is my first comment on any KZbin video EVER 🤣).

Beautiful set of people here, Unpopular opinion, I like Shamik's approach to comedy (also life in general) a lot, I think he is witty, and has a humour which stays with you even after the show. I still remember the Auto sketch from Comicstaan, haha :D

Hello kenny! I have been a silent listner for a long time. This episode was most heartfelt. But every episode I feel the same only. I am 19 years old and just found out that the world is a very cruel place and I was living inside a bubble my whole life. During the pandemic I became existential and since then I have never been the same. I feel so grateful when you make such conversations as this was what I wanted to say but never found the words. You said very rightly - it's only our inner demons stopping us from becoming greatest ( I am living it right now). Also as Shreeja said love and compassion rarely works online coz you need eyes for it. So true. And lastly As Prashashti said our younger generations are soooo influenced, only god knows what will happen. I will try to become a better human. Maybe that's how we grow. In a very stressful phase of life right now. But I hope to get somewhere good. This comment is all over the place. But thankyou alwayss. ❤️

Hey! You are gonna go on to do great things. Okay? It’s not gonna feel like that now but you will. And by great I don’t mean anything dramatic , I mean you will be self sufficient, you will care for those around you and you will be content with your life. It takes time and effort but you will get there and you can’t hurry it. It can feel very overwhelming now , I felt that same way at the age and buddy I feel amazing now as I have grown with age and had so many life experiences. The world is a wonderful place , you just gotta fight to see it :)

Hey, I hope things are going well with you. Like Kenny said, everyone feels this way at that age and things become better as you grow. Its true!! Man, my love for Prashasti grows every day. She is hilarious but so philosophical at the same time. She sounds very wise, maybe because of her age but she is so relatable to people way younger. I wish I was friends with her cause I would just love to listen to her for hours and learn from her 💗

I love this format of Simple Ken where you sit with comics and then discuss the questions. It brings out so many perspectives and all of you sound so relatable that I sit here nodding my head to what you all are saying feeling like I'm a part of this conversation. The questions were too good this time. I specifically resonated to Shreeja's answer to where you are in life right now and dealing with your parents beliefs formed through the social media. I needed this conversation. Thanks Kenny ❤️

I have to say Kenny, I really appreciate your empathy for the person who sent the question about confronting your parents about echo chambers. That you didn't just give in to Shreeja's POV and considered that it's hard to stand up/ruffle their feathers when you're not in an equal position. Cheers!

Very interesting conversation. Everyone in the panel is quite intuitive. I absolutely love Prashasti. Have attended her live show in Jaipur long back, she opened for Biswa. Honestly I found her way better than Biswa live. Prashasti is a gem. Shreeja is very interesting and very very funny. I really want to see more of her. Have seen every video of hers that exist on youtube and several times. I wish I get to attend her life show someday. Shamik is a great writer I feel, having watched his sets in comicstaan I was quite intrigued to know more about his perspectives on everything. His comedy is very interesting. Hey Kenny, Congratulations on 2 million subs, Way to go! Thanks to the segment 'Hot and cold relationships' in your previous video, I gained some clarity and cut the guy off my life( yes, I am the one who asked THAT question) Now, This other guy, whom I like, expressed interest in me, seems pretty good, very sweet, expressive and most importantly, good at heart. But, I am gonna go off to attend college next month, should I get into a relationship with him, knowing that it is most likely to not last or should I convince myself that a long distance relationship will last? PS:- Please treat me as an anonymous fan (again) PS2: This episode was a treat to watch, hope you keep 'em coming. #simpleken

Improv is a completely different format altogether, it takes years of practice and an incredible amount of reading, and staying updated on practically everything, to perfect it. (Just my 2 cents from being an avid follower of Ryan Stiles and Colin Mochrie) The fact that these standup comedians took a shot at it on national television, in front of millions of people, is a huge deal. I applaud them just for that!

#simpleken Hello Kenny!! I want to thank you for recording the long video of you talking for all of us!! I recently got into listening all these long recordings and live streaming that all of you comedians did, specially in lockdown. So once again thank you all for doing this!! Absolutely love you guys! ❤️ One of the things that's been on my mind and I noticed that it hasn't been covered in any of the recording is, everyone talks about romantic relationships, red flags and good/bad partners, but no one talks about friendship, more than that, toxic friendship, where one person is being a great friend and other just keep using them. Since the former is not stupid, they understand that they are being used, but they can't help themselves and help people whenever they can, in such scenarios they feel stupid because they are getting used, but are not able to stop it either, because they don't know how to say no!! This is just one of the many instances, there are many more examples of bad friendships!! What is your take on this matter? (Since, this is not an advising podcast, but a long recording of you talking to us, I don't want to ask you any particular question in the matter, maybe just start a healthy discussion, which can help people to self-reflect!!) Thank you in advance for taking time to read this!! Eagerly waiting for the next episode!! P.S. Don't dwell much on my username, "Brain Battle by Abhilasha", it's a book's name!! Warm Regards and lots of love, Abhilasha

I think we are all prone to be in our information bubble not just our parents. So it's almost tempting to fight for your beliefs but what we should reflect after each such fight is if it was worth it. Do you really believe so much in your counter argument that you were willing to fight with your close one for it. There are a few ways to deal with this temptation. 1. Change the tone. If someone is angry, and you really want to respond, it's better to respond with something that diffuses the tension like humour. This works with my in-laws because they are really aggressive about their beliefs. 2. Escalate 2 levels - This works with my parents. If they are annoyed or angry, you escalate two levels above that. This works with my parents because they are not aggressive with their beliefs. They would immediately diffuse the tension if things escalate too much. What you should never never do is match their anger or escalate by one level because that gives them the incentive to escalate further.

That’s all fair and good if the situation in the country weren’t so dire and getting horribly worse every month. The slope at which the social fabric is getting damaged in this country is become steeper and steeper, and a lot of the people who are comics or who watch comics are probably the less affected people with more privileges than other sections of society who are hurting horribly at the moment. If we can’t do the bare minimum amongst the people who are directly related/associated with us then it’s almost criminal at this point. All kinds of intense disasters have happened in the 6 years and people have quietly gone back to worshipping powerful goons instead of holding them accountable. The less people know and understand, the more these things will happen. It’s everyone’s responsibility now to try at least

Hey Kenny, loved the podcast man. And this is the content that people really want to absorb in a while, where you talk about the self awareness and awareness of the society. Remember, consciousness or awareness is the key. Like if we are in an heated argument, but again if we are aware at that moment, then only you will take away something from heated argument otherwise we are just being the conditioned self with which we have trained ourselves with the help of our experiences and inner demons as well. Waiting for many such podcasts. All the best.

Hi Kenny, Love this channel! I would love your thoughts on this. I have been going through a self improvement journey for a couple of years now. I think I been depressed for many years and just "sucked it up" and kept going. I'm in my late 20s now and I'm glad I finally see things that are in a sense broken about my life. I think one of the biggest messed up things is my family dynamics. I realised that I am the emotional support person to whom everyone pours their heart out. During my late teens there was an extended time period involving my brothers love marriage, toxic home environment and feeling completely ignored. I think I just stopped opening up to ppl around then and just supported other members of my family emotionally. It felt like others were crumbling so much that I had to be the one consoling them and listening to their problems. Some where along the way I just swallowed all of my feelings and need for emotional support. I even stopped talking to them about generic things in my life. Cut to years later, my parents know nothing about me. And still continue to dump their emotional problems on me. I know I sound like a selfish ass** for saying this. But I want some good feeling when I talk to my parents. I am currently studying towards my PhD in Europe and the weekly phone call to my parents is such a taxing event in my week. So my question is: How do I break out of this preset mould of interaction and build a positive healthy relationship with my family which is mutually supportive? I would like to talk to my parents more, but I feel it doesn't give me anything in return. Any advice on things to do or new perspective is useful. I wonder how many ppl are going through similar situation. #simpleken

#Simpleken Hi Kenny! Love all your videos! Keep doing more... I'm almost 30 and married few years back. I was born and brought up in a villege where i was an extrovert. Soon after moving to the city (Chennai) not sure is it because of new place people etc, i completely shut myself out. And started identifying myself more as an introvert. In our family my extrovert cousins are seen as successful though they are not doing any better than me and just because I'm an introvert people see me as a failure. I dnt care much about their opinion until recently when i came to know that my parents been talking to my relatives that I'm of no use, dumb and good for nothing. I felt very bad when i heard that. What do I do? Should I change myself? If so how can I? Keep bringing different perspectives like u do always... Say hi to Shruthi, my cousin she s a big fan too!!

My question for you is, how did you realise you could bring music into stand up? You've said before that when you started out it was mostly just standing and telling jokes, so how did you decide that you wanted music to be such a big part in your comedy style? Was it any particular incident or did it build over time? Sending you lots of love ❤️ #simpleken
