We do miss NASCAR. We’ve been missing it for about 7 years now.

In 1959 the Huntsville Speedway opened and my family would go down and watch NASCAR drivers race on the “Fastest 1/4 Mile in the South”! My first race I attended was in 1959 at about six weeks old. Been following since then. My son and I attend the fall Talladega race and have for the last 18 years.

My first Nascar race was the Winston 500 in 1975 at Talladega. Buddy Baker was on pole, and won race in a Bud Moore Torino. My family and friends went to 5-6 races a year after that until early 90's

My first race was the 1988 Summer 500. Bill Elliott whooped their asses that day. I still remember hearing Ken Schrader saying on the scanner, "Bill's fucking with us and he knows it!!!!! I saw that shit-eatin' grin as he looked at me to pass me. Bastard!!!!" I almost fell off the U-Haul truck I was laughing so hard.

I think that NASCAR is smart to make a return to some of the local short tracks. The roots of stock car racing run deep on the local short tracks across the south. Hickory, Martinsville, Bowman-Gray, Five Flags, Dominion, Stanford, Winchester, Rockingham, Nashville Fairgrounds, Gateway, Myrtle Beach, Berlin, Indy Raceway Park, Iowa Speedway, Salem, Huntsville, Concord, Greenville-Pickens, and Kingsport are all good examples of short tracks which hosted some great stock car competition over the years. My point, NASCAR needs to continue to hold on to a few of these old time, local short tracks on their schedule. JMO

I miss racing! Can't wait to get back on the track at New River All-American Speedway in Jacksonville, NC on January 1st!! I won the bomber division race there this year on New Years day. Might be my last bomber division race, moving up to UCAR/Rumbler, (maybe mini stock) might run a couple legends races again in 2025 like this year.

Happy to of come.across your channel. First thing I saw was John Force interview. Awesome! Guess I was only ever a fair weather fan of nascar for 30 years. I lost interest when the playoff bs started. I get it, they wanted a new fan base, or felt they needed one. It alienated a lot of older fans. When I was a kid, watching with my dad, then growing older, moving out, still talked to dad about nascar, I never remember him saying I wish they wouldn't of changed this or that. I think mainly because when he was alive it didn't change. I know it isn't, but it almost reminds me of scripted 'reality' shows. I used to never miss a race, if I couldn't watch, I listened on the radio. Can't say I miss it, when I see highlights that are not such. I do love shows like Jr's reliving the roots and past, and look forward now to watching Herm. Merry Christmas y'all.

Another Great episode! I am happy for the new schedule! You have a great aspect to the racing community. Do you think an uncharted team make it in Today's schedule? I mean if a big name with good sponsors that know they are not guaranteed to get in, but would be able to race 90% of all races, since we haven't had a full field in years. Or is that era of NASCAR dead?

NASCAR needs to be a mix of new and old. I love N Wilkesboro being back I want Rockingham back. I want to see little tracks around the country being supported by nascar with either a date or an all Star race or the Bud shootout. But I like they are going to Mexico and other places. It needs to be a mix of new and old. Just like they did when they went to Japan

Any short track, is a good track. Now, if we could get rid of the road courses, especially the Roval! P.S. “The Court finds that NASCAR possesses monopoly/monopsony power in the relevant market, which is the market for premier stock car racing teams in the United States. NASCAR’s Cup Series is the only premier stock car racing series in the United States, and premier stock car racing is a distinct form of automobile racing with unique cars and highly specialized racing teams for which other types of motorsports like Formula 1 and IndyCar are not substitutes. Therefore, NASCAR fully controls which race teams can compete at the highest level of stock car racing - effectively, it has a 100% market share.”

Damn right Herm, I miss NASCAR Sundays. A lot of times it’s thrilling and exhilarating! My God. The last Talladega race had me on the edge of my couch, biting my nails. From the four wide ( mind you - only two sets of lines painted to signifying three lanes ) , seven deep for about 15 laps to end stage one, To the last laps big crash and restart, I’d have thought I was in one of the cars the way my heart was beating. Not all races are like that but most are good. Sure I get ticked off and bitch about some outcomes, but when the next Sunday rolls around, last weeks results are behind and forgotten. My focus on the present race. Even the drivers live that way. Maybe a few take action on so grudges but for the most part, alls well. I said what I mean! 😊
