The ceremonial dedication of the streetcar line and the new Transit Center was held on June 17, 2000, and the memorial ribbon was broken at 11 a.m. by 4610 'Toronto', piloted by Richard Lindgren who had been a motorman for the original Kenosha Electric Railway (KERy) in 1932.
Public rides began immediately after the opening ceremony. Regularly scheduled service started two days later, on Monday morning, June 19, 2000.[1]

Kenosha is a Wisconsin city on Lake Michigan. The waterfront Kenosha Public Museum has mammoth skeletons and a model Native American village. Nearby, the Civil War Museum explores the war’s impact on the region. The Dinosaur Discovery Museum has a collection of dinosaur fossils. Southport Light Station Museum includes exhibits in an 1860s lighthouse keeper’s home. The Southport Lighthouse offers views from the top. Expedition Money LLC

I really wish more cities would run these old time streetcars in their cities. They actually are fun to ride, and supposedly pretty easy to repair and maintain. So they would actually fit a special "public-transit" niche in many cities and towns today. And the reason they are so pretty is that they had a contest to find the best design, and this was the winner!!

Ours began in 1835 and still run daily. Newer units only lasted about ten years, so old ones were refurbished and put back in service. Cheers

Aren't ALL streetcars electric?
@modelrailpreservation

For the most part yes. There were horse drawn streetcars early on, and a horse car line ran into the 1950s in Mexico. Steam streetcars saw very limited use in America, but were fairly common for a time in Europe, again, over a hundred years ago. I suppose calling it an electric streetcar is a relic of the past.

@@modelrailpreservation Yes, you are indeed right. There WERE streetcars pulled by horses. In fact, the story goes that Hallidie after seeing horses injured trying to pull streetcars up the steep hills of San Francisco, invented the cablecar. I guess you could kind of refer to it as a streetcar pulled by a cable. Of course, there are many other possibilities, but this is the story that has stuck in general public lore and it also makes you smile considering how it helped prevent the sufferings of horses.

They don't go nowhere and they should be free. Everyday nobody is in them so they're a waste.
