Welcome to my Kenshi beginners guide and tips video, in this Kenshi video I go over lots of questions and things new players wonder or have struggle figuring out when they start such as how to play kenshi, how to read the UI, how to progress and what is progression, things you can do and some general tips. I've played kenshi for around 280+ hours as of recording so have a fair bit of information and knowledge on the game. my first 10 mins I finally found something I could interact with, a copper node. as I started feeling good, got a couple ores, I noticed a group of like 20 dudes casually walking in my direction. I didnt do anything as they appeared to be casually trekking through the dessert. I accidentally clicked somewhere off the node, and noticed the entire group shifted to my direction, so I then clicked around a bit to move, and they were mimicking the directions I would move. so I realized oh shit, I think they're coming to me. I started running and they all started following me . long story short, they beat the living sh*t out of me. I was able to deke individuals out, thinking I might get away, but eventually they caught me and yea, I was laying on the ground in a pool of my own blood while I navigated the UI for possible options until finally realizing I had died and that there are no options available. I reloaded my auto save and decided I'm not going to mine again, this time I found a bunch of dead bodies and a little rat looking thing casually walking away from the bloodbath. I decided I'm going to loot their corpses. the rat found me and I thought I could just smash the rat to death but instead, it ate me. now I'm here

I had a similar experience, but instead of 20 guys it was just three guys who decided to rob me. All I had was a stick and a bunch of ore so I just gave them all the cash I had and they left me alone. Only game I have ever submitted to a bandit, but I knew that was my only option if I didn't want to end up as a corpse.

Part of this TUTORIAL is all 5 of your people getting beaten to a pulp and you just having them drag their crippled bodies to sell ore. I love this game.

This was a super great guide. I've kept my eye on Kenshi for a bit now and it finally went on sale so I decided to pick it up. I created my character and instantly felt overwhelmed. I typically don't like to watch guides but I could tell I was going to need to for this game and I felt like I got exactly enough information to give me an idea of what to do, but not so much information that I felt like the game was spoiled or I was at the point of information overload. yeah this is a pretty good way to spend your first few days in kenshi. As well as pulling bandits to the cities and letting the guards finish them off so you can loot and sell their gear. In the end you will probably want to go out and build your own city. Eventually raiding ancient ruins so you can further your tech tree research. Then you will probably want to crush the holy land.

Also, if it is your first 50 hours, id recommend just going stealth in a town and running around until it is 20-30. Then going into stealth in a building and picking red items off of shelves/ground, then dropping the items and picking them up again(all while stealth). Once your thieving and stealth are 20-30, wait until night and pick a door to a weapons/armor shop, go in, lockpick easy chests, steal things that are 90 percent plus chance. Do this for 2 or 3 nights and your pick/stealth/thief will be up to 30-50. Then you can steal priceless items and sell to certain vendors, or just keep the really nice armor/weapons. You will have 100-200k cats in 2 or 3 days of this... Kind of cheap but lets you get started strong. After you get some experience at the game, i would recommend doing no thief, no save scum runs and just going with w/e happens... It makes it much funner

Find "playing dead" enemy, and sneak around him. You get 90% xp gain, not only 20% as if you 'practice ' in safety. On max speed, you can get sneak up to 70 in less than 5 min. After you get sneak steal clothes from guy, put it back and steal agan. Just be aware to find playing dead guy with busted leg/legs (damaged beyond ko stat of individual).

This is a great guide! I currently have 1,745 hours in this game (I bought it in 2014-15) and it would say it is a comprehensive guide to the basics. One detail I think I would have pointed out is that the beds in the empty house you mentioned are free to use, but that's pretty minor. One tip I would have is that joining the Shinobi thieves (located in the tower on the opposite side of where you start in The Hub) can be a good long term investment (despite the hefty 10,000 cat fee to join) because you get access to training dummies, an assassination dummy, two lock pick trainers, free beds, some pretty strong allies to run back to if combat gets too dicey. Also, the Shinobi trader buys and sells goods (both stolen and legitimately acquired) for 50%, which means that you can get some very decent light armor and katana type weapons at a good price. Also, The Border Lands region is a decent area to train up your combat skills, as most enemies you encounter there (starving and dust bandits) are rather weak compared to some of the other nightmares that are out there.

@@noziroh554 I wish I could, but unfortunately I've never actually made such a character. Almost all of my time was spent playing on an older version known as oldland with different rules and map. A few hours of playing got me a character that got to ~40 attack and defense, which was good enough to beat dust bandits, but not destroy everything that moves. I think you need ~70 in combat stats for that. I wish I could be of more help, but that's about the best I can do.

I may have missed this, but another thing you can do at the start(and is much faster than early mining) is to get your run speed to 15-20 by just running around, then bait groups into guards or opposing groups, then loot the bodies and sell. It is a little tricky because when you pick their stuff up your slower, so you have to play the balance game until you get stronger/faster, but you can get lucky and get 3k-10k in one run.

Monztuh Angel to add up, maybe more baiting tactics but I prefer do this on the UC territory more combat. If u have good specs on your PC. Bump up the squad and population multipliers. Shobatai and Stoat is few of the most busy cities in UC with combats

this guide is just a punch of help, literally all information i needed in one video to start up. perfectly intuitive structure to follow - interesting stuff first > Start, UI & importent menuing > first day/week and so on. really easy to follow, good notes towards how the game wants you to play it > trial and error. here's the fun part. i didn't watched this video in one go. i started watching it, paused it whenever i had a guideline to what i could do next and so i watched this video over 3 days until i realised, that the last third of this video, was exactly that i've done with the major difference of having the recruits hired in a different order. but same town, same building repaired, same first companion, without all the guide - just to see that i did everything exactly like that dude from my new favorite kenshi beginners guide xD no shit, if someone wants to get into this game quick, just to have to know what the gameplay is about, this is the video i'll recommend. thanks friend. nice video.

I just got the game, started a new game and was so overwhelmed. This has helped immensely

i have some extra tips: Wanderer start: just go for iron mining, the copper is too close to a dust bandit camp. and there is a pathing system very close to the hub. there are 2 iron nodes 1 on each side of the city gates, use those mine till full. then just walk around train strength till well at least lvl 5. train stealth, and buy a building,the cheapest one in the hub is 1500 (the shed). save for a reasearch bench,and buy 4 books. get training dummys, and lockpicking training, and all the free research. place a training dummy and lockpicking training,in your building. you can get the iron plates from squin ver close by. (so now you got some lockpicking,and basic combat training lvl 5 done + some research). automate the mining process by hiring a second member in squin for 3000. (shift click for auto jobs) build an iron storage,and a food storage (now you house is kinda full) but that the best way to start. also while mining and got nothing to do ,read the help (manual). there is a button for it. also a freedom seekers tip: restart until you start in the border zone there are 2 spawns there. you want to spawn near tiny settlement. (spawn slightly east to the hub) in tiny settlement, which you can see from the spawn point. (just not on the map) there are some weapons there alot of building matirials and iron plates,some fuel,gears,and tools. its a great boost for that start, also if you sell everything you got a nice ~20.000 to start with. + 5 squad members... you could hire an additional 6 if you only go for the cheap 3000 guys. i prefer going to squin and hiring all the warriors. then go to the hub ,and start out as usual. but train every char. or save the money an buy the biggest building in the hub. :P dont buy the big building east in the hub its bugged. ) the big one near not on the wall (next to the bar). and bring like 22 building materials. you can now choose to become a warlord, built a bigger starting base or rebuild the hub.. or just play as the wanderer...which i would still recommend doing at least once.. just focusing on one character. also there rare but there are factionless hive wanderers that are alone, and good training to start out with. most of the time your just outnumbered, or under trained. final tip...its also a good idea to just buying some houses in citys ,that have access to raw materials. then placing a squad in that city, now you kind of got a mining business. ( matirial nodes,they used to be in city's sometimes, but the developer changed that, and placed them more dangerously.) used to get rich very easy and safe ,but now mining is a risky business. also save,save often,you dont want to restart 10 min just cause you pressed right click on a door. you could also create custom starting saves.

You forgot to expand the UI on the left side... KO Point, Run Speed, Hunger Rate, etc. Limbs will get cut off if they take twice as much damage as their HP (100 hp will mean the limb will be gone at -100), death works the same way with head, chest, and stomach. Races with higher HP are that much more durable. Blood and blood loss are different for each race, once you reach 0 you go unconscious (loss of twice your blood is death). Humans and Shek will increase in blood as their stats go up, hivers and skeletons have decreased blood loss but also have a fixed amount of blood (they're also much more likely to stay conscious if they lose a limb). Toughness determiners how far into negative health you can go for head, chest, and stomach before you go unconscious. Hunger rate is something to pay attention to if you're new. So races like the Shek can be expensive to keep around because of their increased food intake while hivers are the cheapest to feed and skeletons don't eat (but cost more when injured because of repair kits). Holding the Shift key when assigning tasks for things that they repeatedly do, like mining, will get them to go back to that task automatically. Early on it's smart to permanently assign your squadmates to heal each other without prompting (that will cut down on the desire to save scum). Splinting limbs will allow you to keep using the limb up to -50 health, otherwise, the character will crawl or the arm will flop useless (which means you can't use 2-handed weapons or carry people). Your right arm being crippled will take you out of the fight unless you know martial arts. As a precaution, it's harder to hit the right arm based on race. Splinting will also mitigate some of the stat penalty you get for the limb being so heavily injured (fight and walk faster).

A very risky but also rather profitable way to get cats early game is to go to one of the wester hive villages and sell the animal skins of the wildlife that gets killed by the hive soldier drones. however the faune there is VERY dangerous so it is very risky.

I also do this, and if you're very lucky you can find some kind of animal eggs that sell for around 4200 cats each. In the hive village at the end of the river more inland there are copper ores close to hive soldiers for protection accompanied by a marketplace to sell.

Haha, finally got Kenshi, and for the first 3 days attempt, reloading saves after losing 1, 2, 3 or all 4 limbs (or utterly dying) I decided I might need a bit more help then normal. I'm 15 hours in, got 7 characters and some of them have around 30 in fighting stats. Bro you could just Shift+iron/copper ore. For job no need the shift+right click+selecting inventory since you already build your ore storage. There are more copper ore in squin. Including your copper ore u found. Thats a total of 5 people for copper for more Cats

I got a character's stealth to 100 with the help of stealth clothing and was able to steal a sword worth 11,000 cats off of a UC noble lady that even though I "got caught stealing" I was able to speed out of the city in the night at 29mph without getting seen and thus no bounty on that character lmao to them I was but a shadowy figure naruto running into the night

The most important thing is to constantly get beaten up. The worse you are beaten up the stronger you will be later. Fight dust bandits and hungry bandits because they usually won't kill you (unless you are really unlucky).

my favourite thing to do when i already have set up an outpost is to go roaming people come to raid me and wait there until click back so 3-4-5 different factions gather up depending on where i set it up ( in this case the border zone on the edge of the swamp and stenn desert .. so when i get back all those different factions + a few caravan traders start duking it out there instead of fighting me lol real blood bath with lots of good loot and prisoners to make xd

I choose 5 companions after my lone wander crashed I spending all my money on food first spawn drop me area with ton of skeletons so restarted can barely keep fed and they mine all day

Hi thnx fr the vid! Really helpful! But I wanna ask smthn slighlty unrelated- My PC is basically a potato with only 4GB RAM nd i3 gen 7 processor. I have just started playing it a day ago and it seems to be running fine as of now, but it cld be bcz its just the starting area?🤔 My question: I've read in many places that this requires a LOT of ram nd also has many many long loading screens. So to all experienced players- when and where do these loading screens pop up nd how frequently, nd how much time shld I expect to wait for my game to load should a screen pop up? Players with better PCs, how long does the game take fr u guys and shld I be expecting to play this game long-term considering my PC is potato?(M hoping running on low graphics helps🤞).... Hey Legendair its worth it. Honestly. One of the best games we have. Maybe not polished as other games but the possibilities you want u could. Highly advice play the game without mods first and get the gist of it. Then try mods

What do the automated miners do if bandits come? Thats my biggest fear in that scenario

you will be alerted by a red flashing on the characters on the UI. Most often, if they are being chased from far away it'll let you know before hand as well so a few minutes before they get in reach to land the first blow, if it's weak bandits tho you don't need to worry to much, as long as your limbs don't go below -100 if they just knock you out think of it like free toughness and defense xp haha.

my guide on playing kenshi step one, make leaf, a hive drone trader step two wait at the traders spawn for a bandit with a straw hat to die for maximum d r i p and some spare clothes step three abandon pack bull, you dont need animals slowing you down step four run to the hub step five train athletics till your faster than a car, (usually i just run from end to end of the hub till i get bored of doing so, between 100 and 50) step six mine abit for cash, about 4k id say? step seven after immense training and labour run towards the mongrel, with your new found s p e e d you should just enter hyper space on your first step, and should be at the mongrel in a nano second. step eight grab a traders wooden back pack and find *beep.* once found get him into your team and give him the traders backpack. and the spare clothes you found earlier. maybe you also found a iron rod give that to him aswell step nine once back at the hub you start mining iron or copper for profit, both of you have a backpack that can hold a good bit of it, over 100 all together you do the math on how that works. recommended; dont get humans just get skeletons, i.e burns or the depressed skeleton at the robot bar optional; maybe train defense and attack, for the people that can run faster than the speed of light or the bandits that surround you and read your inputs on where your going yea if you couldnt tell i have no clue what im doing, all i know is speed
