I wasn't entirely paying attention, but... heavy weapons are the only weapons that require a specific Strength level to wield them properly.

So why no mining is that they easier method? I'm absolutely about to go buy this game after watching all these videos.

It isn't that mining is bad--because it's not. However, there is/was the catchall answer for new players to 'just go mine'. This meant people new to the game would spend literal hours just, kind of AFKing. Mining. Not the most interesting way to start a game--though totally viable, and if that's something one finds fun, they should do.

I never mine except for needing the actual resources. Looting (structures/fallen enemies) earns you far more and quicker with slight risk.

I remember getting to that safehouse for the first time and starting looting everything but then I've read the note and was like, ok, I will put it back where it belongs. I wasn't playing a slave start game, so I decided to leave it.

I usually do the same. I often feel a bit bad to steal from there, so I usually leave it alone.

The swimming speed is a lie. You can have upwards of 90 swimming and it will still be a snail's pace. Edit: Also, Dust Bandits give a real low ROI when it comes to endurance training. They deal cutting damage so you are always at a risk of bleeding to death, when you enter a scrap with them. And they are on the 10s or 20s stats tops. You would be much better off going to Skinner's Roam and looking for huge hordes of Hungry bandits and fighting them, remembering to get up always to max toughness gain.
