The lore of Kenshi feels sadder than other post-apocalyptic games of a similar feel. Usually it's a great calamity or a nuclear fallout that obliterates the population, setting the clock to zero, but in Kenshi, the apocalypse came in waves, fuelled by distrust, intolerance and paranoia. It gives the impression that there is no hope for society to rebuild and adds gravity to the crestfallen nature of the Skeletons. I always thought that Skeletons were named such because of their skeletal appearance, but now I think it's because they are remains of a long-dead time, when hope was commonplace. This also gives a bit more relatability to the Holy Nation and their hatred for Skeleton-kind, killing anyone who even has prosthetic limbs in an attempt to purge them from the world. This was a great video and gives me inspiration for some roleplay in future playthroughs.
@allones30783 жыл бұрын
thanks a lot. you even gave me something to think about on why they call them skeletons.
@DiocletianLarius Жыл бұрын
Although the devs clearly wanted a grim setting, I think there's still hope in the world of Kenshi. I can see some sort of "progress" between the different political entities that arose after the downfall of the First Empire: the United Cities for example are some kind of "Third Empire" that, despite its flaws, is still way better than the Second. And you also have new groups like the Machinists which, like medieval monks, are recovering all the knowledge from the past, or the Anti-Slavers whose ideology and actions may change the world for the better, even if they ended up biting the dust.

I remember my first time going to Obedience. I was always on edge, thinking about what might attack me, as the people on Mongrel warned. Very little is written or said about the origin of Hivers but by taking what little we know of them and the history of the Second Empire we can speculate. We know that Hivers are enslaved to a cybernetic queen and instinctively shun all Hivers that are no longer influenced by her pheromones. We know that skeleton-kind was dwindling and the human population slowly fleeing the Empire for other lands. Cat-lon needed new subjects to maintain the Empire. Subjects that could never rebel. Subjects enslaved instinctively to skeletons. And Cat-lon had a supply of human children and knowledge of genetic manipulation.

@@allones3078 My money is on that the Hivers are one of the late genetic experiments of the 2nd Empire, engineered as cheap, plentiful, resilient and obedient laborers (as opposed to Enforcers) as their Queens are basically cyborgs. Also check out what's going on in the Royal Valley (situated on what would be the fringes of the 2nd Empire): Southern Hive has its main palace nested in a ruin that looks like a huge ancient dome or a lab of some kind. There's even a golden symbol on the floor, shaped like a cog (a sigil of the 2nd Empire, perhaps?) AND their "King" is an ancient Crimper industrial bot that consumes organic matter for fuel - perhaps he's still following his original programming as he tends to the colony. There are also clues that point to other possible genetic experiments: the savage Gurglers (human-crab hybrids?) on the Fishman Isle have some sort of a temple / throne in a crumbling ancient lab. Also the Bugmaster, who controls spiders via unknown biological mechanism, is hiding in an abandoned lab where he apparently amasses his pets to one day launch an assault on Cat Lon to avenge some unspecified grudge (maybe he's like the Frankenstein's monster of Kenshi, who wants to get revenge on his creator?).

@@blacknwhitedevil Thanks a lot!!! kenshi as it does not hand you the backstory has a lot of in game archology that need to be done for these videos. which is the back story for my currant playthrough as a "tech-hunter".

I love this game, the best part is no one really tells you any of this, you kinda have to dig through rumors and second hand sources, along with sorting out lies and propaganda.

Yes it is really a lot of fun trying to figure these things out. A lot of research has gone into these videos. It is why I have not posted a video in awhile. the next episode's research is taking a bit longer to research.

One question though. ... What is a "BO-hemoth?" XD
@allones30783 жыл бұрын
Behemoths are the giant skeletons who's remains can be found in Obedience and scattered elsewhere throughout the map.

@@rednova2212 I know my Cascadian English though very clear does have a few oddly enunciated words like how we say orange. I had never notice Behemoth among those words though. I will have to listen and see. LOL Chalk it up to accent. LOL
