There are TONS on videos about Japan. However, yours are the easiest to understand, to the point, with no frills, and for me, are just perfect. As we are terrified to come to Tokyo next month and dealing with transportation, we are at least armed with some knowledge, and it is because of your family and taking the time to educate us. So Arigato Gozaimasu!

@stephan3077Ай бұрын
@richarddepinay2256 Well, I would qualify that a bit. For instance, the Shinkansen line map presented seems to say that the Nozomi service only goes from Tokyo to Osaka. It doesn't, of course, it goes all the way to Hakata (i.e. Fukuoka). So you can of course take a Nozomi from Kyoto/Shin-Osaka/Shin-Kobe/Okayama/etc. to Hakata. I'm also surprised that nothing is said about whether the tickets bought on Klook are more expensive (and, if so, by how much) compared to when bought directly from JR in Japan. Same goes for cancellation/change of reservation conditions. Influencers who benefit financially from recommending a product or a service *always* make it look good, so take everything with that extra grain of salt, just like your mom always told you to 😉.

@@stephan3077 Hi. Welcome to our channel! Being that our videos are geared towards first time visitors to Japan, we often simplify things so as not to confuse people. This particular video was specifically recent updates, so that people would know what has changed since our last video. We just booked our tickets from Japan to Osaka with no issues. But when I booked the return tickets, they put us in the very front row when we asked for Oversized luggage seats. I went to cancel them like you suggested, so that I could try and book a different train, but there is a cancellation fee once you receive the confirmation, but you don’t know what seat you are assigned until you get the confirmation! The agent on the chat was not helpful and tried to make me feel stupid. I was excited to use Klook, but I won’t be using them again. You might want to warn others of the cancellation fee. All they said is that it’s not their fault and to just pay the baggage fee. But otherwise, we’ve enjoyed your videos. 😊

I have learned a lot from your videos for my upcoming trip. Since this video mentions luggage, I do have a few questions regarding the Shinkansen and luggage. 1. Would a backpack count toward the second piece of allowed luggage? If someone in my party has a suitcase, a carry on, and a personal item (backpack)….would that be a problem? What are people supposed to do if they arrive with a third piece? 2. How strict are they with the oversized luggage? My suitcase is literally 5 centimeters over the limit, at 165 including handle and wheels. We’re going to use the JRP and I’m stressing out over the idea of trying to get the reserved seats when we’re in a time crunch to get to Kyoto from Haneda before the last train of the night. Any advice would help. Thanks!

Hi 1) no one is going to ask any questions unless you really stand out so no need to worry :) 2) oversized luggage rule should be followed because it is not safe to put that large in the overhead compartment. Since you are riding late your train will most likely have plenty of seats available unless you are traveling during a holiday. Hope this helps!

@KenshoQuestАй бұрын
Hi, great question. In most instances you have to exit the local line. However, if you encounter a situation where you are able to go straight to the shinkansen gate, please do not. Instead go find the exit gate for the local line first and tap out. Then proceed to the shinkansen gate with your QR code. If you don't , the next time you try to use your IC card it will beep red at you and you will need to see an attendant and explain the whole situation which might not go over well since you will be in a different city since you road the shinkansen.

@@KenshoQuest many thanks for the explanation. I think this is important for new users of the Klook QR, as far as I can see there is a shinkansen gate transfer within the local train network which you can enter before fully exiting the station (preventing you from finishing the local route with the IC card). But if all of your kids don't have phones you might want to print out the QR codes and scan that just in case the gate attendant doesn't allow it. If you book through Klook they do their best to put seats together. this is usually not an issue. However, there is a possibility, such as during rush hour or during a holiday that your seats may not be together. Unfortunately, You do not get to choose your seat. There is another system that you might want to try called SmartEx that allows choosing seats. It can be a great alternative but also requires each person to have either their own IC card or QR code, which again you can print instead of using on a phone. here is a link to a video on SmartEx: kzbin.info/www/bejne/gZjPpIZ-qsqrZrM A final option is to just purchase from the JR ticket office or from the machine then you can get the good ol' paper ticket.

Also, we are a party of three, can I buy 3 tickets on my Klook app, then scan the QR code three times through the gate? Or should everyone have their own account to buy their own ticket?
@KenshoQuestАй бұрын
Hi, you can purchase all the tickets but each person is supposed to have their own QR Code. So you would need to download the QR codes from the app or the email then send to the other users. If a person doesn't have a mobile phone you can also print the QR code and scan that.

I cannot find any route from Mt. Fuji to Hakone on klook. Is there a train to Hakone from Mt. Fuji?
@KenshoQuest24 күн бұрын
There are no trains between Mt. Fuji and Hakone, only buses.

@@KenshoQuest What the best bus route that you would suggest to get there from Mt. Fuji?
@KenshoQuest8 күн бұрын
sorry for the late reply, if you are coming from Kawaguchiko Station, you can buy bus tickets at the station. There are a few a day depending on the season. The buses are nice and smooth but you might need to make a transfer at Gotemba.

May I ask: if you buy 3 tickets, will you receive 3 QR codes or only 1 to scan at the gate? Also, if you only receive 1 QR code for 3 tickets, do you scan for 1 person to go thru the gate one at a time till you are the last to scan & go? Thanks a lot for your reply in advance.
@KenshoQuest12 күн бұрын
You will receive 3 separate QR codes, one for each ticket.

If I buy a non reserve seats on Nozomi train from Tokyo to Kyoto, and I miss my train, can I just catch the next train in non reserve seats?
@KenshoQuestАй бұрын
Yes, you can ride in non reserved any time that day.

I was planning to get JR pass for my 3 week trip with an early Tokyo to Hakata leg. Why does Nozomi cost ~8000 extra for JR pass holders? A Nozomi ticket on Klook is basically the same price as the Hikari/Sakura ticket but 1 hour quicker. This is really frustrating. I was also under the assumption that Nozomi wasn't accessible to non-JR pass holders due to the wording on the JR pass website.
@KenshoQuestАй бұрын
Hi, the reason why the Nozomi is not included is because the Nozomi is owned by a private company, not part of the JR companies. So if you buy as a single journey the tickets are the same since you are purchasing as a separate entity

I purchased a green car ticket from Kyoto to Tokyo on Klook. It didn’t include the basic fare. Was that a mistake on my part? Should I have known that I had to buy a basic fare ticket at the station or was there a basic fare add on that I missed on Klook?
@KenshoQuestАй бұрын
When you purchase a Shinkansen ticket on Klook it includes everything. The ticket you purchased already includes the base fare + super express surcharge + Green Class. 🌸 Heidi
@panathenaeaАй бұрын
@@KenshoQuest I thought so too but my ticket wouldn't let me through the gate....or maybe i confused a basic fare ticket with a receipt and I double paid. I don't know...but I'm glad to know that it should have included basic fare... I'm certain I messed up but I was really frustrated being stopped at the gate with little direction as to what to do.
@KenshoQuestАй бұрын
@@panathenaea Sorry that happened. The attendants are usually helpful when we ask which tickets to insert. When you print your ticket at the machine there are different options of what might print out. It might print one ticket that includes: base fare + surcharge + seat reservation for Green Class, plus a receipt. Or it might print two tickets. Or it might even print 3 tickets, with base fare, surcharge, and seat reservation all separated. It can be confusing! We cover the various scenarios in this separate video: kzbin.info/www/bejne/fXWThaNtr6yGm9E

This is not just for klook but if I buy tickets for my wife and myself what is the best way to scan the QR codes or the best way to get hers on her phone?
@KenshoQuestАй бұрын
Hi great question! You can either forward the email with the QR code, which you can download. This can be done via the app or through a link in the klook email. Or worst case you can even print it then scan the paper qr code

Hi. Just like to ask. I m trying to book one way ticket ftom tokyo to shin osaka by nozomi for 3 adults from klook apps. I was not being offered the mt fuji view seat. Instead i just vring offered a single choice of seat with oversize luggage, which i dont need. So any advice for this smll problem?
@KenshoQuestАй бұрын
Hi, can you please try again? It might have been a glitch or possible for that particular time you selected the seats were already sold out. But most likely the first option. Let us know how it goes.

I will be travelling with my 16 yo son soon, is he still considered as a child for the train ticket or adult?

Hi, unfortunately, your son is considered an adult. Child fares for ages 6-11. Under 6 is free.

He is considered an adult. Ages 12-years-old and up pay adult fare for transportation in Japan.
