Great Review! Does this Dock support Thunderbolt 4 on M1, M2, M3 Macs? Or Just Thunderbolt 3 for Macs? What about the complaints about "Coil Whine" coming from this Dock? Did you experience anything like that? Thank You!

I just got the dock, and yes, there is audible coil whine but it is coming from the psu, and luckily the wires are fairly long, so I can hide the psu in a place where I cannot hear the whine. Still freaking annoying that you have to deal with that in a fairly expensive piece of tech!

Are you able to confirm the chipset used for Ethernet (probably Realtek but it would be nice if it was something different) and the chipset manufacturer used for the USB hub side (e.g. Genesys or VIA)? Many thanks.

Simple question. I have a laptop with 2 TB4 ports, but my monitors only have hdmi and display ports. Should I go with an older TB3 docking station with HDMI/DP, or a TB4 dock? I assume I can buy some TB/usb-c to HDMI/DP cables to connect a TB4 dock to my monitor? Thoughts.

Go for TB4 dock. You can get adapters to change TB/usb-c to hdmi/DP. It is my understanding that TB4 is better in terms of future proofing etc

Sadly not possible ...I really do like this dock, but as mentioned in the video it also really annoys me that the thunderbolt host port is located on the front, it's quite annoying I don't understand why Kensington thought this was a good idea 😑

I have a 17" Dell laptop with Thunderbolt 4 (11th Gen i7-1165G7; don't have model number because my IT department wiped the factory install), and it works with this dock flawlessly. Just bought two LG 27" 4K IPS displays, and already had thunderbolt to HDMI cables capable of 4K @ 60 Hz, and it drives both displays 4K @ 60 Hz without any noticeable issues.

Does anyone know if this would work on iMacs? I know it says laptops but I’ve not heard anything about iMacs. There’s just not enough ports so want to get something like this. But I’m worried that it says it’ll “charge your laptop”.

I have tested this dock and when it works it is one of the best, but the secret of this dock is in the word "when". I have had three units and all three have the same problem. I have contacted the vendors, the manufacturer and anyone else who will listen, but the same thing happens every time. The capacitors in the power supply and the dock itself are of extremely poor quality and will not hold up to normal use of the dock. Let's not say you want to use it intensively because then it will only last for 5 days. A pity, but there is no solution, all docks based on this motherboard (from OWC and other manufacturers) have the same problem and that is that the manufacturer of the motherboard and the power supply uses low quality materials.

Just some feedback regarding the specs. You mention that it supports up to 2 4K monitors and 8K and that is a misleading statement. It can support 2 4K monitors OR a single 8K monitor. Same thing with the power being 90W delivered. Both of these points are Thunderbolt4 specs and cannot be changed by hardware vendors. Good all around video and thanks for creating. I came searching for a video discussing the Kensington DockWorks app to see what people have to say about it. Hopefully this type of information can be considered for the future videos.
