It is interesting from a psychological perspective to see the way in which humans use creativity and imagination to re-create the world in their own image and project it as true physical world we live in. He has NO idea what tiktalik is, or what dimetrodon is (these two being HUGE TRANSITIONAL FOSSILS), and if he knew the hundreds of thousands of species or genera, he'd realize there's NO WAY to fit all of them in the ark, even if Noah took two dimetrodon "kinds". All he thinks is that there were today's animals plus dinosaurs and mammals. Hes insanely stupid. Not to.mention, that many animals would die from suffocation and methane poisoning, and explain how the dodo would get to a small island by Africa hundreds of miles away from Africa if it can't fly. This is one ignorant m0ron, who also enables pedophiles in his cult compound

Skyswindler Of course he is! He's one of the manifestations of the Dunning-Kruger effect: he is so stupid that he doesn't understand how stupid he is. KC responded to his asinine questions with precision when he knew the answer, with caution when it wasn't necessarily his field of study or when even all scientists in that field don't really have a concrete answer yet and he answered "I don't know" when he didn't know. That is the hallmark of intellectual integrity. Nothing of the sort has ever been heard from Hovind. The entire first half of the debate he's trying to massively dumb down complex science into something that's either so obvious so that he can ridicule science for questioning what can easily be intuited, or into something so counter-intuitive or even absurd without the proper context that he can reject it as "stupid" and 'faith-based'. The funny thing about this debate is that within the scientific community, there is no debate. The debate about evolution among scientists ended a few decades ago. It is a proven fact whether you like it or not. If you disagree with this statement then you are basically saying you are more of an expert than all of the actual scientist experts who study it. For those of you who didn't understand what Hovind was saying at 34:00, he was apparently pointing out that according to classical electromagnetism, a moving electric charge gives off electromagnetic radiation, and in so doing, loses energy and slows down. Therefore, an electron orbiting a nucleus should instantly lose energy and spiral into the nucleus like a moon crashing into a planet. Since that doesn't happen, the electron - nucleus pair do NOT interact classically. Quantum Mechanics addresses precisely this problem by representing the electron not as an orbiting particle, but as a standing wave surrounding the nucleus. The electron can change its "orbit" only by increasing or decreasing the number of crests and nodes in its standing wave, and in so doing, absorbs or emits photons of a precise energy. This also accounts for the sharp lines observed in the spectrum of an ionized gas plasma. The wavelength of each spectral line represents the energy jump between two electron "orbits." For a given element, the wavelengths of its energy jumps is always the same, and is used as the "fingerprint" to identify that element. Just because we don't have equipment developed enough to observe it, that doesn't mean that there's nothing there. Nothing begets nothing. You can't get something out of a literal ultimate "nothing". Vacuum is not "nothing". Even empty space itself is not "nothing". Vacuum is something. Empty space is something. Absolute "nothing" is the absence of "everything". It's the absence of vacuum. Why do creationists keep confusing the Big Bang theory, abiogenesis, and evolutionary theory? They are three completely separate things. The Big Bang "created" the universe (not exactly, but works as a simple explanation). Abiogenesis is about the first appearance/"creation" of life. Evolution is about already existing lifeforms gradually turning into other (usually new) lifeforms, usually over a long period of time. The division between the three is as simple as that.

Richard Santing Because they have a "theory" (asserted statement, in actuality) that they think explains all of that: "God did it." How did the universe come into existence? "God" How did life begin? "God" How did we get the diversity of life? "God" ...when one's answer is the same thing for virtually any question, one may feel like they know the answer to virtually everything, *and* one has trouble actually using critical thinking to follow discovered and described processes; they have the answer already: "God." Yeah, it's simplistic and yeah, it hurts hearing it come from a modern age human, especially when many many religious people have had critical hands in discovering and describing these processes. It's beyond ignorance, beyond idiocy and square in the realm of stupidity, because it causes real harm and retards the intellectual advancement of mankind.

Xain, I got to agree with you. It is a very simplistic way of thinking. I think that Neil DeGrasse Tyson said it best when he said: (God of the gaps argument?) If that is how you want to invoke your evidence for God, then God is an ever-receding pocket of scientific ignorance". It is unfortunate that so many people adopt the "god of the gaps" view. So, as the people who do not fill holes in our knowledge with "god", we have to make up for them. :D

+Jack Gates To be honest, I'm not entirely sure, if he's really that stupid, or if he figured out a long time ago, that he's simply wrong, but wont' stop lying, because then he'd have the stop his scam. And btw. although I'm an atheist too, I would not make, the claim, the there is not god, period. It's not a slip. It's a deliberate, repeated claim that plays well with his audience. Hovind was jailed for near ten years for not paying employee taxes, among his 58 felony convictions, and he owes a civil judgment of well north of $3 million bucks for failure to pay personal income taxes. His claim may be that he's paying property taxes for public schools (which is how we do much of it in my state although other taxes are now supplementing it due to proposition elections that limited the growth of property taxes) but Hovind as a supposed retired person with no personally owned property does not even pay property taxes any more. But yeah, we must understand that Hovind uses that line because his audience eats it up, LOVES it, thinks he's winning the debate with that crap statement.

Hovind's definition of "kinds" falls apart when you try to apply the definition to a ring species. Species A and B can produce viable offspring. So they'd the same kind. Species B and C can produce viable offspring, so they're the same kind. Since A and B are the same kind and B and C are the same kind, then A, B, and C must be the same kind... Continue on with this pattern up to say, the letter K. So all species from A through K should be the same kind. But while A and K can produce viable offspring, E and A and E and K cannot, because they're too distant. But A = B, B = C, C = D, D = E so A should equal E, right? But it doesn't... this is how a ring species works. It is a demonstrable fact.
