Ever since I discovered Kent, I've been dying to learn Swedish. I really want to spend the next 4/5 years of my life trying to learn the language so I can study in Sweden, go on holiday, and maybe even live there someday. I just wish they still toured in England so I could get a chance to see them live, I'm afraid that by the time I get over to Sweden, they'll not perform!

Wrong translation almost in the last part. And it completely destroy the point of the song! This is correct: "(I,) don`t see the correlation -You, see the reality -I, don`t see the same thing as you do -I see the sunset -I, don`t see the same thing you do -YOU SEE THE END OF THE WORLD (or "armageddon" or something). "Downfall" as you have translated it with, is WRONG. "Undergangen" in this contects means end of the world, and it is NOT the singer who see it, but his travel companion. The lyrics probably disuss a "nordic-rich-european tradition", leasure charter holidays to what we nordic icebears simply call "the south". "The south" can be anywere in the world, as long as it has an airport and a direct airplane route, warmer climate than northern parts of Europe, palm trees, a beach or a pool, and beautiful sunsets ;-) Many Swedes and Norwegians have a VERY good private economic situation, and travel to such places EVERY winter, sometimes several times each year. At home we drive electric cars and Teslas driven by clean electric power, eat ecologic food, have strict laws to ensure decent salarys and a social and fair society, and are proud of being so eco-friendly and aware of the climate changes. And then.... we park our electric-"non-polluting" car at the airport, take that CO2-bomb called an airplane, and go to this hotel at the beach (called Le Mirage or something like that), just to be served cold and non-ecological beer and fruit from an underpaid waitress. If you are a swede, pherhaps a young man, and finally has worn out of cold, dark winters, swedish authorities, and ONLY THINK about yourself, I guess the very first holiday to "Le Mirage" in the south felt nice. At least if you manage to stay naive, and overlook the dead palms (drought? climate changes?), the poverty in the city aruond the hotel, the desperation to make money among the citizens, wich means "everything" is possible for those with money (wich leads to "A city without moral" and " A sick version of freedom"), and so on. This song is about those moments when you feel that FOR ME AND MYSELF, everything is quite perfect right now, and you`re happy to be rich, self-centred and naive, even if it really doesn`t match the social consious person you know you pretend to be ... It is obvious that he (the singer) tried hard to overlook all this, but it is also obvious that his travel companion did`nt manage. She did see it. She saw that this couldn`t last. And finally, in march 2020, she was right. Holiday travels all over the world, just for leasure and relaxing, almost completely ended due to covid-19. The viruse did spread though travellerers and tourists. As a bonus, CO2 pollution from airplanes is very much lower now, one year later. Sadly, unemplyment and poverty is probably much worse in those tourist-dependent areas.
