Voice Lessons - How To Strengthen Head Voice - Ken Tamplin Vocal Academy.
I think it's important to define what Headvoice is.
My definition of Headvoice is not just "Anything that resonates in your head" (which is a common definition).
My definition of Headvoice is growing our falsetto register to sound and have the same qualities as our chest voice, so that when we cross the passaggio (our bridge from chest into headvoice) we can create one long, powerful note.
In this video, I demonstrate how to strengthen this amazing part of the voice to give us incredible range and ease for singing high notes. This lays a strong foundation for creating a great mix voice.
Great Singing To You!
Please like and share. :-)

Yomo yes it takes time. Drink lemon with honey every morning, warm salt water gargles, and most importantly: stay hydrated at all times. Dry vocals can cause damage and change the tone of your voice, so be careful with that! Start off with songs where you can find your range and work your way through there with the singing lesson ken offers. Stay away from soda and cold beverages because they can compress your vocal cords, sounding constipated. Avoid dairy products too.

Our great dane doesn't like it , he starts to whine and howl lol, maybe he thinks I am in great pain. It's completely opened up my voice and given me back the range I didn't even know I had access to after all this time. Of course, I have a lot more work to do, but this is really encouraging. Honestly, I did not appreciate Ken's videos as I do now when I first started to learn how to sing. I now realize that Ken's videos are for those that have gone through a decent amount of trial and error to have experiences and knowledge to understand his videos. Ken, you may not know it because it may be a total norm for you. BUT what you teach and the examples you give are purely from your experience and a great understanding of your audience and students. Some of your videos may not be appealing to new singers as those videos may require viewers to have a fair share of experience before being able to fully grasp the reasoning and explanation you give but that's what separates you from the other teacher/coaches. I really appreciate your effort and how you share your knowledge in a carefree manner. I did not understand back then but now it makes sense to me, more than any others' videos I've watched. P.S: This is not limited to this particular video of yours.

Methode in this video really works. Is possible singing in pure falsetto and after create tone memory on tones is possible crossed on full (timbre?) tone. On same high tone. Very interest how is possible examinated own voice. During Exercise it were confirmed. Falsetto is easy hold. And after is possible push more air over vocal cords. Arises an especial effect when is falsetto suddenly changed to full nice tone - voice.

Hi Ken, is there a chance you could turn this video back to front and start off with the lower range first? I'm 69 and not the best singer. I used to love trying to pretend I was Elvis 40 years ago but I long realized I never had that kind of talent. Now I write the occasional piece and learning to play the guitar a bit but need to sort out my voice as well as learn the guitar. Now any chance of doing this video backwards? Many thanks, love your vids. James

I just wanted to say how great these videos are! I have a terrible voice and a low register...bass-baritone...I started as a G2- G3. Very low. After a few weeks of practice, I have increased my range to my target goal of C4. I couldnt believe I could even get there. A3-C4 was very difficult and my voice always cracked and switched into falsetto. Now I sing C4 effortlessly and can even stretch to D4 and E4 on occasion if I really push. I just want to say thank you! I still have a long way to go in pitch and intonation but its made singing so much more enjoyable. Its no fun since I saw red from warrant in a C3!!!

I often describe singing techniques like magic tricks. Once you understand how they did it, you can start to imitate them. This was another textbook demonstration of how great singers are able to sing like magic. I can’t find anyone better at teaching how to unlock the code than Ken.

How do you build up head voice (male tenor) when there's nothing but air, most days? I can't do 97% of this video, even quietly. And I tried. Nothing's there. I had a vocal cord surgery in 2008 AND another one in 2013. Trying to get my higher register back. It's not there most days. But SOMETIMES it is. And sometimes I can do your entire video. And I have no idea why it's gone most of the time. Can you help, Ken? Maybe a video that helps restore damaged voice, or SPECIFICALLY to strengthen lower-pitched head voice (not here, as it's much too high)?

@kentamplin
@kentamplin 7 жыл бұрын
You have to avoid oversinging in headvoice. Make sure you don't sing too loudly. Also, you need to keep working your upper chest voice or it will atrophy and become weak at the passaggio. So you have to keep gently working both chest, head, and bridging to keep all of the above in good working order.

Love it but it wsa so Easy 11 was a little bit more younger. I try to reach those nudes and my throat stays in pause. Just in that note. I'm not a young bird.. But a wise Hawk. All My life I've been Singing. And it looks like i'm having trouble now reaching those notes. Follow you through the years.. But I think you disappear offline.. Thank God you're back again..if anything My name is Jerry From Brooklyn. And Since the 60s.. I've been singing. Would like to say time changes a lot from the 60s 2000.. I like you sleep you could feel The Strain in your voice try to reach that note that you had before.. Thank you if you wanna get back. I'll be here God bless you. I have a Good Night.

I really cant hit low notes at all, so I'm keen to develop my falsetto and head voice. These exercises are helping so much, thanks !
