I've rarely used the term "masterpiece." I always felt like it had become some shallow word that people attach on to anything without much rhyme or reason. But then I read Berserk. Berserk changed my perception of what anime and manga could be. Despite all the hyperviolence and demonic horror, it was built on a painfully human foundation, and it went from one of the best revenge stories of all time, into one of the most beautiful redemption stories. Berserk *is* the masterpiece I've always searched for, and Kentaro Miura is a genius.

Berserk is just something you can't deny once you enter the world of anime. If you haven't heard of it, it's rare unless you don't really care about or actively avoid seinan shows. By association, you will also learn of the manga. And then, Berserk will claim one more possible person under its fan following. 9 years ago Berserk completed its silver jubilee and will complete its 33rd in 2023. I got to know it two years ago. Just like me, some other kid is learning of it at the very moment I'm typing this. Heck, you will find Berserk on old KZbin as well. An upload of Guts theme when I was only four years old. If that doest give you some sort of crisis, I don't know what will. Similarly, in future, some guy will also come across Berserk while doing his daily chores and he too will not be the same.

We really need a Movie about Kentaro Miura’s life. I can guarantee you that everyone has consumed SOME form of Berserk in their life. Things like Dragons Dogma and Dark souls, in the movie Brightburn the director admitted the logo is based on the brand of the sacrifice, it really created and kick started a world of dark fantasy and monstrous beasts. Before Kentaro began berserk he worked with Jyoji Morikawa, creator of Hajime No Ippo. Jyoji even admitted that for Miuras age his art skills were far beyond his, he saw Miura’s sketchbook and asked Miura about his drawings, and he had thousands of drawings of a man with a mechanical arm and a piece of iron too big to be called a sword. Miura said that when he felt he was ready he would show the world his creation. sounds like it would do amazing as a movie. He had the idea of Berserk since he was 18, maybe even younger, and he carried that all the way through to his death. I know I keep repeating myself but I REALLY want a movie about his life detailing his childhood, how he thought of berserk, how he breathed life into the world of midland, how he influenced entertainment media permanently. A movie sort of similar to “Saving Mr.Banks” “The Man Who Invented Christmas” “The founder” “Apollo 13” or “Tolkien”, all of those are really good narrative movies about the journey these influential people had on the world. I will miss him, and I hope he knows how many and how much his stories affected peoples lives

Berserk has helped me reflect on my life and always saves me when im at rock bottom. It has made me realize that I have to face my mental health problems head on, to quote guts "there's no paradise.... for you to escape to", that quote made me realize a lot about my life. Thank you Miura.
@edgelord83373 жыл бұрын
Berserk pushed the bar so hard when it first came out. The main character is literally a Male SA survivor and was literally born in guts. To say that berserk is terrifying is an understatement. But berserk also is a look into humans and trauma and how people deal with it. Guts despite all that happened never turned against his ideals and always pushed himself back up even in the worst of situations. Griffith instead was broken by his and turned against everything he stood for all for what he believed was the greater good despite all the bloodshed it would take to get it. Miura really put his heart and soul into it and created something that isn't just unique but something that pushed the bar and in my opinion becomes something more than just a manga. There's a lot of violent manga but berserks violence has a reason and uses the horrible situations and actions of people to tell a story. All that to say thank you miura for everything.

Seems like the appropriate place to talk about my story regarding Berserk although I'll try make it as short as I can. I only got into it this year after losing a close friend who was a huge fan of the series. I ended up falling into a really dark place in my life and was constantly contemplating suicide. I decided to give the series a try starting with the 97 anime back in March since I heard it was a decent place to start. I then ended up taking deluxe editions 1 and 2 out of the library and read them super quickly over the course of a weekend. 3 was also available and I ended up taking it out a month later as well (was pretty busy with school so I didn't take it out immediately). I finished Deluxe 3 the week of May 9th and then read the rest of berserk online starting from Wednesday to Saturday. I was literally spending hours during those days pouring through the fantastic story unlike anything I had ever read before. Once I was done I had a sense of sadness but I was excited to see what being on hiatus with everyone else would be like. My birthday then happened the next week on the 18th and it was alright. However late the night of the 19th the news broke about Miura's death and I was completely broken over about it literally crying for a couple hours and unable to fall asleep for most of the night. I've still been crying over it because it definitely helped pull me out of a hole I was stuck in and motivate me to start making changes in my life. I can't even imagine what this must have been like for people that had been fans of the series since the 90s.

Instead, join me in suffering for the gospel by the power of God. 9He has saved us and called us to a holy calling, not because of our works, but by His own purpose and by the grace He granted us in Christ Jesus before time began.b 10And now He has revealed this grace through the appearing of our Savior, Christ Jesus, who has abolished death and illuminated the way to life and immortality through the gospel, 11to which I was appointed as a preacher, an apostle, and a teacher. 12For this reason, even though I suffer as I do, I am not ashamed; for I know whom I have believed, and I am convinced that He is able to guard what I have entrusted to Himc for that day. 6:12

Im sad because i will never be able to experience the full and finished masterpiece from master miura, but whats even worst is knowing that one of the things that bringed most joy on my life bringed miura to his end by some degree, the life of a mangaka is truly a nightmare, but miura gave his all in every single chapter and for that im very thankfull, to have been able to enjoy the world, characters and specially a master of his craft just doing what he loved. Miura was berserk, thats without a doubt , but if it continues i really hope Studio GAGA give at least 100% of the effort to be able to deliver a good conclusion to master miura magnum opus, but thats just stretching to much, im happy with what we got this far. I can relate and share a lot of opinions about Berserk that you where quoting in the video, it’s incredible how the people who love and follow Berserk can think about it and how we can link to them. Miura’s knowledge always got me inspired, and I’m so grateful for what he has done, and for all the effort to create this masterpiece. Once again, thank you. And thanks to Miura. Rest In Peace.

Remember how everyone always bugged him and made jokes about hiatuses? I suppose this final hiatus is what we deserve, causality at it's finest. Rest in peace Miura, you genius and beautiful soul. Also, thank you for putting out this great video, I'm sure Miura would've appreciated it.

Thank You for uploading this The Mask Man! I’ve been dealing with anxiety and loneliness throughout my life until my life became a little better after reading Berserk during the pandemic. Reading Miura’s masterpiece opened up a new gates of emotions I’ve never felt in my life. I’ll never forget that experience until my death comes. Once again thanks for posting this amazing documentary!

Hey Masked! I'm truly devastated that Miura has passed away so much so that I felt depressed for weeks I want let you know I'm so glad that in the last 2 years you've put out such great Berserk content and for other manga too I think this is your best video you've ever produced and I want to thank you and all other Berserk fans for preserving, enduring and contending with Miura's legacy. I've been around on this channel long enough to see how passionate you are and I hope you will continue that way forward, all the best man. I still remember when you supported me with the chat when I had eye surgeries in those dark times your channel was my only support.

Berserk is a masterpiece of a manga and this video is an amazing tribute to Miura's lifework and his craft, he truly was a revolutionary and masterful writer/artist. I'm glad to have found about his inspirations when he 1st conceptualized Berserk. This video makes me want to read Berserk from the beginning and catch up to it before this year ends 💯. #ThankYouMiura P.S. thanks for this video, Masked.

I started reading berserk when I was 13, I'm 24 now, had to read it over n over again to understand things, and there re still many I have to catch up. I wish more readers could have this experience, because I felt deeply the time along with the plot, and mostly Guts, who begun as a young boy. I saw many bad comments about Miura and the end of berserk in other videos. *Berserk is not a story to be ended*. Its a story that ended changing you :) I Think that's what rly matters Thank you for this video masked man, rly means a lot, wish Miura could see this. Sorry u never had your chance to interview him But keep struggling :) , cause he died doing what he wanted most, no matter what, right?

Recently started rewatching the anime and I plan to move to the manga to see everything I have missed. (Have never read it super excited) I am an avid Dark Souls fan and as soon as I learned that Demon Souls was inspired by Berserk I had to watch. The older series was one of my first anime's and it set me on the path of watching more and broadening the genres I enjoyed. It was a big hit to learn Kentaro Miura had passed because it felt like he had inspired a lot of things I enjoyed over the years. Once I finish Berserk 2017 I am sure I will binge the rest of the manga start to finish to soak in the glory of his masterpiece. I feel like its the least I can do for someone and something that has impacted my life so much and theres no way I'm not going to enjoy every second of it. R.I.P.

@@Jokah_baybee Absolutely but once I watch it then move to the manga my eyes will start to burn from the blinding brilliance. Also just seeing the differences in the anime and manga is something I like to do and me being the idiot I am I tried to wait for more berserk in anime form before going to the manga.

I don't know where to even begin, man. The amount of effort you've put into this, the amount of love and care, down to the script and choice of music, it was so worth the wait. This is truly an amazing tribute to Miura and his work that has influenced and impacted us all. If I can be a little selfish here, he and Berserk have impacted me in so many ways in my life and has inspired me as an artist as well. And thanks to you, I know even more about him and Berserk that I didn't know before. I'm gonna keep collecting the Deluxe Editions and keep rereading the story for as long as I live. I know that to all of us, Berserk truly is a masterpiece. And Guts and his journey will keep pushing me to struggle on as well. Thank you, Masked Man. And thank you, Miura.

What an amazingly well thought out piece this is. I've watched Berserk from beginning to end several times but you shed some light on a few things I had never quite realized. I really hope that they leave the series unfinished as I don't think anyone could handle it as well as Miura would have if he were still with us. Still my #1 favorite series of all time and I don't think that will ever change. RIP Miura-san, you will forever be sorely missed 💔
