Yes..that’s an allergic reaction. I once inadvertently put my hand in a large paper wasp nest, which was under a bench. There was a long fast chase, with many wasps around and on me as I ran for cover. I got stung many times (didn’t count the stings). For about 30 minutes my arms were red, swollen, throbbing, burning, and very painful. Then it all subsided quickly, and only a little annoying itchiness and very mild burning remained for a day or two. If you’re not allergic, there’s no need to fear their stings.

I got stung by a wasp in Switzerland and i didn't know i was allergic to wasps. I had extreme hives in 30 minutes. I took a medicine for allergic reaction and i was okay in an hour. However, after few Hours while i was waiting for your on the cobblestone floor outside a restaurant in Germany, i felt weird and decided to sit since i was losing consciousness. Before i could sit, i fainted and i fell head first on the hard floor. Even the hard fall didn't wake me up. There were many Germans there who held me and checked my breathing. In less than 2 minutes, the ambulance was there and i was rushed to the hospital. I was conscious but i was given very heavy medications. They told me i have anaphylaxis to wasps sting. I was given alot of medication and spent 2 days in a hospital. I've to carry a epipen from now on. Still waiting for the appointment to the doctor next week and hoping i don't get bit by a wasp in the meantime
