6:58 If you're wondering why, you have to remember the 4-bore was designed as a black powder cartridge and modern rounds are loaded to mimic the pressure created by that black powder charge. The .950 JDJ was designed for smokeless powder, which is _three times_ more potent than black powder.
@mastergwaha
@mastergwaha 8 ай бұрын

@nextcaesargaming5469
@nextcaesargaming5469 8 ай бұрын
Smokeless powders are so energetic that even loads of equivalent power are unsafe in the same guns. The typical .45 colt cartridge in the 19th century was identical in power to .45 ACP, but .45 ACP is noticeably higher in pressure.
@monkmoto1887
@monkmoto1887 8 ай бұрын
I mean yes and no. It’s kept within safe parameters for the chamber and cartridge, but it’s definitely about twice as hot as turn of the century black powder 4 bore
@me.ne.frego.
@me.ne.frego. 8 ай бұрын
@@nextcaesargaming5469 .45 ACP case is much shorter so equal power loads will produce much more pressure. But the thing is, you need a LOT of black powder to get power and NO air space inside the casing, while with smokeless powders you load few grains and the free space inside the casing doesn't matter.
@nextcaesargaming5469
@nextcaesargaming5469 8 ай бұрын
@@me.ne.frego. This is true, and my point is much better illustrated by comparing apples to apples; .45 Colt with black powder and .45 Colt with smokeless powder. Even if both are loaded to achieve roughly 830 to 850 fps with a 240 grain bullet, the smokeless one will be unsafe to shoot in an old SAA. A modern SAA replica will eat smokeless cartridges for breakfast because of better metallurgy, but not a older generation revolver; it will eventually grenade itself.

Things I'd like to see the JDJ shoot: 1) If a zombie was standing behind a grizzly bear, shoot both? 2) how many clear ballistic gel can it go through 3) body armor on a zombie torso? That energy transfer would be wicked 4) as someone else said, can it split a log of firewood if it hit the log length wise in the middle?

Can we just take a minute and appreciate Scott for not only overcoming his injury but outright conquering what did it to him. It was weird rifles and rounds that nearly killed him, and here he is firing the biggest and baddest of them all and geeking out instead of freaking out. Hearing the pure excitement out of Scott’s voice when he fired the .950 JDJ proves that he doesn’t just enjoy making the videos, but he enjoys making the content the videos are focused on. which I think is something that many KZbinrs don’t have, and wish they did.

Of all the things that surprise me about you shooting these monster rifles as often as you do, what is absolutely astonishing to me is you don’t flinch or anticipate the recoil at all. Just totally calm, both eyes open and loose. As a (former) competitive shooter I’m beyond impressed. It took me years of training to be able to shoot a 308 out of a 12lb rifle and consistently just let it happen without anticipating the recoil and noise. Even now, 4-5 rounds from a hunting weight 300 win mag and I’m flinching like a complete novice. The win mag might be 30lbs of recoil? Amateur numbers I know. You’re an absolute unit to know it’s coming and just let it happen anyway. Hats off to you sir.

It is impressive, though he's also huge. Its the sound more than recoil I think that people recoil from. Grandad used to load our guns with our own loads. Well, as we shot, 1 shell wouldn't have any powder,, and we would recoil when pulling the trigger. That got us a verbal wholloping for being so weak and gun shy that we recoil when there wasn't a sound. It taught us better shooting discipline.

This is more than twice as powerful than the most powerful .50 BMG, and depending on the measure... more powerful than the round that blew up Scott's Serbu rifle. Also... he fired nearly 700$ worth of ammo. Each round is 225$ and MUST be custom made.

@@Mu7eD-Stream I disagree on all counts. Part of loving someone is to know who they are. Scott wouldn't be the same if he retreated from what he loves to do because of that horrible accident. I almost drowned years ago and I didn't quit swimming. I was almost killed in a car accident and I didn't give up driving. Even if Scott did quit shooting the biggest and most powerful firearms that is no guarantee of safety. Life is precious because life is also dangerous and fleeting. The man, the myth, the LEGEND! You've got balls that clank! That rifle would dislocate most people's soul. Congratulations on the anniversary, and of course that rifle! I know that came at great expense. Thanks Scott for the great content!

Quite possibly the most entertaining YT video I've ever watched of someone shooting a cannon. Great job and keep em kicking!

It’s amazing that he still has the courage to shoot guns after his accident. I can’t believe the torture he puts his shoulders through for us. I would think when he’s much older he’ll be fond of what he did but also slightly regret it because of the physical pain.

It's not really that bad. The courage is relatively little guns are pretty safe compared to something like bull riding

Cant wait to see the 950 vs ballistic torso. Should invite some slow mo guys out for such an occasion too. Congrats on having such a good outlook on life as well scott. We are blessed to still have you around providing entertaining and educational firearms content.

Not only the slo mo guys, but the how ridiculous guys (they did a series with 2 cannons and they loaded them with different things, bowling balls, in test, iirc and shot them at each other).

@@bikeny don't know about the how ridiculous guys. I love them but their style of content seems to ever involve firearms. The cannons were the closest they've ever got and those were painted bright colors and didn't look like traditional cannons. Just think they have a different viewer base. There's also the ballistic high speed bros that would love to see it.

@@Pointlesschan yeah but they've been in the US for their last few videos. I think they were in Montana. Firearms are also a bit small scale for then. They might enjoy the punt gun though.

I still can’t believe you’re alive after that accident A miracle nobody survives accidents like that that often. When those kinds of guns like a 50 caliber explode, it’s like getting shot by one the odds of living or slim to none. You’re lucky somebody’s watching over you.. i’m glad you’re doing good. I’d like your video. Good job. You worked hard. You deserve everything you got. You definitely earned it..
