in ancient greek canon, Hades is probably the chillest and least problematic god in the entire pantheon. Which is pretty ironic considering how many stories paint him as the bad guy lol
@titan1337603 жыл бұрын
@@am5ters504 I wouldn't call him exactly "the chillest" of the Greek Pantheon. In Greek Mythology, he's often depicted as stern, stoic, grim, and unpitying, but he was ultimately just and fair. As Edith Hamilton states in her book "Mythology", he was a terrible, but not evil, god (the ancient Greeks were terrified of death, and to Hades himself, which is why they would often use other names to refer to Hades). That said, he does show his soft spot to his wife Persephone, his dog Cerberus, and those who are able to move him, like what Orpheus did. While he is often depicted as a stoic deity, there are occasions where he was really pissed off. A good way to really get into his bad side is to either: a) try to raise the dead without his permission, b) try to cheat death, and c) try to steal his wife. Lastly, one reason why he isn't dickish to mortals is because he doesn't need to. He can just wait for them to die for them to be punished for their misdeeds, especially to those who have wronged him. After all, all mortals, without exception, will eventually die
@am5ters5043 жыл бұрын
@@titan133760 i mean... in comparison to the track records of his brothers, especially regarding women..... i’d regard him as pretty chill. There are rarely any myths where he takes direct action (as you said he doesnt need to) and even in the ones with him as a major player (aka orpheus) he’s not even actively doing anything, as it was ultimately really Orpheus’s own fault for things turning out the way they did

Apart from that they all generally like Zagreus (since you need to build affection with them before the plan gets put into motion) let's break it down. The Asterisk note that the god pretty much has no reason to care, apart from Demeter being hurt and her resulting famine causing the mortals to die off causing fewer offerings and likely interfering with their domain. Zeus - Already knows and went along with it Poseidon - * but is probably the least effected as his domain is the sea Athena - * but might already know, and of all the family is not only the most even keel, sees little wisdom in going to war over it Aphrodite - * but likely sees their family's love as truly genuine Artemis - * but frankly likes Zagreus more then the rest of her family Ares - * but is trying to get with Nyx so... Dionysus - * but gets the chance to empty the wine casks of Hades the god of riches and party where no god has partied before. Hermes - Already knows and went along with it Demeter - While upset, is also able to reunited with her daughter, realize her folly and discover she has a grandson

When I finally beat Hades for the first time, I genuinely cried a bit when Zag and Pers had this brief interaction. Such heavy emotions and news for both of them, I do wonder how brief Zag is able to stay in the overworld. Usually, a brief moment for Gods is like many years for mortals.

@@soul6733 Pretty much, the thing about Greek Mythology is that there really is no set canon. It just depends on who is telling the story. Unless we are talking things like The Odyssey where there is set canon for that one. Example: Herakles kills Hippolyta during the task to get her girdle but Theseus later marries her after Herakles sets him free from the underworld.

I'd LOVE to see a DLC with an alternative ending, where the gods find out the truth before being invited to hell and you actually fight the war they talked about. You could fight all of the gods, even chaos, and through the gods being unable to win (maybe not dying completely...), they acknowledge the whole situation and support it. I think that would be super interesting and just flat out awesome.

If we're talking DLC, how about the Labyrinth of Minos? Theseus was supposed to be the main character instead of Zagreus initially.

If Persephone isn’t with Hades anymore, does that mean their Earth is Winterless? Edit: Apparently she never reconnected with her mother, so maybe eternal Winter is more accurate.

Would explain why it was so snowy all the time when on the final piece of the ascent.
@Thorcar1234 жыл бұрын
No cause during the feast she tells a lie about pomegrenade that is never properly explained but hinted at, this is a reference to the original tale where persephone eats 6 pomegrenade pieces and has to spend 6 months with Hades and 6 months with her mother because of it. So during 6 months Demeter despairs and life in nature dies out, and then when her daughter comes back for 6 months nature revives, thus creating seasons.
@prcervi4 жыл бұрын
this persephone didn't want to deal with her mother's possessive nature anymore and from the brief bits of dialog you can get with demeter, it's pretty blatant that demeter just kept getting worse with her temper
@waterunderthebridge79504 жыл бұрын
So I’m late to the party but I remember (according to various tellings Persephone being tricked into it/etc.) her eating three pomegranate seeds corresponding to the three months of spring where life springs from winter (also why she’s sometimes the goddess of spring) and then returning to the underworld
@marius396713 жыл бұрын
@@Thorcar123 No Demeter Said there would grow No fruit on earth if she wasnt with persephone. Persephone sted the pomegranate so she has to be with Hades in Winter time, thats why there is always Winter in game
