@@vivogarage Now if I can just get the day/night setting to work. I even went into developer settings on the app to let the phone control it to no avail. Even the app in my phone won't go to night mode.

To fix date time issue.. on my ddx model you select Home >boxes icon > radio on radio screen there is an arrow that opens a menu , select setup and shut off RDS CT!

I have the same exact radio and I have a usb 2.0 fat32 file format system 32GB with nothing but the update file but it’s not detecting it what am I doing wrong here?

You need to go to your radio settings and turn off RDS CT

Where do you get the files or what do you upload to the USB stick?

You get the files from Kenwoods website in the support section you search for your model number then download the recent firmware files. You can follow the directions after that on this video. If you are not able to complete this I recommend taking it to a car stereo shop for assistance

My sceen turned black for even when i did the firmware update. Instructions said that screen would go black for a few seconds but mine totally died.

@@chrisowens2445 Disconnected the battery for a few minutes and then i worked fine. I tried to upgrade about 3 times but i got black screen every time and had to disconnect the battery. Cant remember if was a few minutes or an hour.

Make sure you are using a flash drive that is 2.0 and 8GB-32GB. I tried using a 3.0 64GB drive and it failed, black screen with only the side lights on. Plugged in a 16GB 2.0 usb drive and it worked. Format of the drive should be FAT32. Turn on car & radio. then plug in the USB 2.0 stick and let it sit after about 30-60 seconds it'll start updating the firmware.

There is no volume control for Apple NAVIGATION voice, on the DMX4707S will there be a firmware update to fix that? the navigation voice is painfully loud. Kenwood help line said that there is no control to lower the volume on navigation... Bastids.

If you adjust the volume when it's actually speaking (you have to be quick) it should reduce

sounds like a loose wire. or improper wiring. look at the wiring diagram the 12v hot needs power consistently. there is a sense wire that will turn on when the key is in the ACC / ON to activate.

The directions I read from Kenwood was to connect the USB drive before turn the unit on but I also found it would detect the update if you plugged the drive in with the unit already powered on.

Any ideas where I can find information on how to fix my touch screen? In a small spot in the middle left side of the screen, it doesn't want to work. I can't go back on my songs of put my Playlist on shuffle. And if I pull up my keyboard d, s, and w don't work. It's eating at me and I can't find anything on it.

@Lektiix no I did get the number to Kenwood, but I haven't had a chance to call. I've just been using my phone to put my Playlist on shuffle. As far as going back I just use the option to put youtube on the right side of the screen while having Maps on the right. I also, found out my main menu button on the right doesn't work either, there's a way to get around it, but I haven't needed to after I did it last time when I tried a hard reset. Kind of bummed out about it though.

What's up, I have a problem with the same model, maybe you know something about it, it doesn't turn on, only the power and volume keys stay lit, they tell me to try the usb memory of the files but it didn't work, I hope you can help me

It sounds like the unit is bricked. If you have the files downloaded onto a USB drive and it is not working. I would reach out to Kenwood support for help. being as descriptive as possible with them will help in resolving your issue quickly. Did you leave the files compressed or did you unzip them?

@@danielspillane188 I unzipped them and placed the files on the root of the USB drive. If you do this and plug the drive into the USB port on the radio, It will detect the update and will allow you to run it when you turn the radio on.

@@danielspillane188 Yeah my situation was a little different. Purchased a new DMX4707S and had it for 3 weeks when one night I turned my car off and the unit kept playing. Took it back to the installer and they "reset the unit" and made sure it had the latest firmware. 3 weeks later (in early Jan 2023) it did the same thing. I took it back in and this time they tried to update to the latest Dec 2022 firmware and the unit became unresponsive/bricked in their shop. A local Kenwood rep was in the Boston area, he went to the shop and told them to swap the unit out for a new DMX4707S, and this time they successfully applied the Dec 2022 firmware update. It's now Jan 31 2023 as I write this and I'm just hoping that was the final fix it needed, but only time will tell...

Bro please help me with updating my background! I can’t get it to work for nothing. Thanks for the video I was worried to try it because I seen several things about there unit bricking. I’m going to go update mine now. I just dragged the folder onto the usb. Do you know if you did the same? Mine has this USB/DMX4707S_07/ then the 3 files but they are zipped are they supposed to be? I decompressed the main folder but on my computer that doesn’t decompress the individual files in it. I might try to wait til I hear back from you! Thank you !

Let's see if I can help with this. For the updating, extract the files from the zip folder and copy them onto the USB drive. the USB drive needs to set up correctly too. I will put links below that show what it needs to be. I found it best to plug in the USB drive into the radio then turn the car on, and let the radio detect that there is an update. Once you get to this point select the update that I mention in the video. when complete repeat the update steps but select the other update. during the reboot of the second update, you can remove the USB drive. as for the background image, the file type and image size need to be correct. Mine is a jpg file and the picture size is 800X480. @@vivogarage my unit bricked in the process and i was even on the phone with Kenwood cuz i was worried about the bricking. I read some forums and ran to the store to buy a few different USBS. It came out of the black screen in the parking lot of the store with a usb 3.0 16gb Fat . i formatted it though before i put the firmware on there. i didnt just use it straight outta the box. idk if that matters but i fixed it on my own. Yes i def need a video on backgrounds cuz i used the 800x480 format and it always says no files or whatever when i hook a usb up. im going to try it with the usb that saved my bricked unit. i feel good about the backgrounds working with that. Please send a video. every detail when it comes to the format of the picture and how you did it with what software please. i would greatly appreciate it. Thanks for all the help.
