Looks like a pretty nice system. It should serve you well.

Nice video, and to help, there is a stick-on metal pad you can get from Kenwood that when put on the dash, the nav antenna will magnetically stick to it and work tons better. That's the experience we had with our XL anyway.

I used the little square pad that came with the system and it is much better but still jumps depending on the direction I am going, I am guessing the motorhome blocks the view at times. It always seems to happen at the most inopportune times.

Great Video!

Thanks, we have found that we like to compare the route with Apple Maps. Sometimes this Kenwood unit likes to take us the long direction. If we add a couple of via points it will take us a shorter route and still monitor for any hazardous conditions to our RV.

Do you know how to turn off the navigation notices chime?
@WildBlueWanderers3 ай бұрын
I think you're talking about the little dings when it warns you of a downhill or sharp curves, etc. unfortunately I haven't really looked into it to see how to turn those off. So no, I do not know. Scott

@@WildBlueWanderers I figured it out. The person that installed my radio listed it as a large freight truck. I changed the setting to a auto and then selected a picture of a pick-up truck for the screen. That took care of the problem.

Does your unit offer the eco route app and it’s features
@WildBlueWanderers5 ай бұрын
@@toddkaebisch I am not sure, the non truck version I had did, and I believe that there are some other options if you download the Kenwood app on your phone and connect it to the unit. But, that isn’t an option I have used.

About how long does it take when starting the vehicle to actually being fully booted and displaying CarPlay? I'm curious if this newer version is actually substantially faster, or if it still takes a good bit.
@WildBlueWanderers9 ай бұрын
I counted around 25 to 30 seconds. But I have had it take longer when my phones doing weird stuff.

@@WildBlueWanderersout of curiosity was that wired or wireless? I have a smaller DNX997XR from the 2020 generation of navigation CarPlay head units they put out. Wired I timed 33 second, wireless 43 seconds. I had hoped for this newer release they’d at least make it more modern and faster booting, especially if they’re going to take away HD Radio, traffic and weather, and drop the preamp out to 4V instead of 5V. It seems like they’re charging $1700 for the same guts minus a few items with just enhanced (large vehicle) navigation capability. My little 5th wheel isn’t that tall, only about 11.5’ to the top of the A/C (highest point), so I’m not really worried about navigating with it. I was more hoping they’d do some substantial hardware upgrades over the last generation. It seems like even the bezel design is identical. Thank you so much for this video and for being willing to add some additional info. It’s truly helpful! At least the DNR1007XR is still available in some places.

Well done. We just bought a DX3 With this installed. Curious if you have done a map upgrade on the Garmin portion and if that was simple to do?
@WildBlueWanderers8 ай бұрын
I have not done a map update yet, I should check to see if there is any update available for it yet.

Does this support Garmin Drive?
@WildBlueWanderersАй бұрын
I don’t believe so, it has a Kenwood app, but it’s not very good from what I’ve used it. I believe kenwood just uses the garmin mapping system but doesn’t have all the garmin extras.
