Actually the Kenwood KA 50 Amplifier had 45 Watts per Channel at 8 ohms at 0.09% THD. according to the Owner Manual. I once had the KA 30 Amplifier with 25 WPC at 8 ohms which was similar to this (same series) but it lacked the LED Output Level Meter. I used it with Kenwood KX 50 Cassette Deck and LS 99 Speakers all made in Japan and was of very good quality at that time. Marty Jewell's explanation herein about this was very illuminating.

Truth be told, japanese manufactures built lousy speakers. They did build very good amplifiers. Kenwood has sold top notch receivers and integrated amps since the early 1970's. This KA-50 is a sweet unit. At 45wpc, 0.09% THD and 75dB phono S/N, two tape loops and a smart functional look it's great for a home hifi system. With good vintage speakers like the EPI-100's it'd be great. A friend in Brooklyn (1980) had the KR-710 receiver (28wpc) driving EPI-100 speakers and her system sounded sounded swell. had this more then 25years ago from mixer to equ to amp input aux press input in front never had problem

Are you playing that music through an aux cord? If so, where did you plug it in? I can’t get mine to work
