whats the pin out for that adapter you made for the hirose to kvl cable? it looks quite useful for making mods to keyfill

Hello. I have a question to ask you?

Ever sort it out...?

I could be wrong but I think you need the hirose version that is meant for data, not audio. I'm not sure I believe some radios can fill with audio version. Sounds like kenwood might have screwed up on the hirose, you might be able to take it apart and switch the pins around to the right output if you can find the schematic for the kenwood radio on what pins are used for keyfilling

Has anyone taken apart the working cable to see if there are any additional electronics internally that might be missing. In the past the boys at Moto have done jumpers or diodes for activating the Keyload feature of a radio. Just a thought.

So tell me more about that home made adaptor, where do you get the parts?

Find a mx800 radio and hack off the top. The hirose can be had at digikey. It’s three wires, solder it up and go.

To connect KVL 4000 to the portable transceiver by using the KCT-51 HRS Adapter, the transceiver must be placed in Key Loader Mode before connecting. The transceiver enters Key Loader Mode by turning ON the transceiver while pressing and holding the Down arrow key. This operation is not required if not using the KCT-51 HRS Adapter or if using Software Key Loader.

Anyone know the guy(s) at KFD Tool? I bought a cable from them about 3 weeks ago, no response.

No I don't. I can say shipping was prompt when I got it.

Sometimes he takes awhile, bunching up orders, I expect. He's always come through for me...
