I notice a sign saying 87 Loyalsock Ave. Must be near Worlds End, some beautiful country up there. Some fine videography young man! Wyatt, I was exactly your age (11yo) in June 1971 when I went on a scouting trip up to Worlds End. Hiking those hills left a mark on me, I'm 60 yo and I can remember it like yesterday.

Yes That's what I thought. I'm in Oregon. The guy that had it here I have known my whole life. I drove that truck when I was 12 years old. It is such a beautiful truck I have always had a soft spot for those long hood A models but that one always stuck out above the rest. Hope you enjoy it. And if you ever want to part with it please let me know

Seeing great video like yours sure does make me miss those days when trucks were quality built, when drivers helped each other, for the most part, and when most drivers of both trucks and 4 wheelers had some respect for each other. Boy have things out there gone down the shitter!!🙁

I've been driving an 82 a model for the last two months it's got a 400 big cam Cummins and a 13 speed it's an amazing truck I love it
@jtnettling849310 жыл бұрын
It has a Big Cam 3 right now with some modifications. It has a RTO12515 trans, and Rockwell SQHD rears on AirLeaf. It is a glider that was built in Kansas City in October 1983. -- the next phase of the restoration is in process - I have a B model ATA 3406 in the garage, and a 1463A / 1241D. I do all the work on this truck myself.

1463a, that is a 5 speed?

I could see 1982 as a build date - the B model was introduced that fall. The A model cab continued through '87 or '88 on the C500.

My favorite truck was a 73 A model. Had a 290 turned to a 335. It'd throw fits to 400s if you worked it. Always loved the A models,still do. BTW my 73 was painted 67 Mustang orange. Yours is a gem, a classic.

I drive a '73 everyday. It originally had a 290 Cummins with a 13spd. Now it has a 3406a Cat with a 9spd but the 9spd is going bye bye soon for another 13spd. I love my '73.

Eaton dont build a 15 double over . you cant have a overdrive and deep reduction in same back box..only one. Only trans eaton builds with double over is 13spd. I do custom builds in trans and with a real true double over the front box has a .73 overdrive then the back box takes over..

I noticed that when you backed up you didn’t appear to have any white (backup) light(s) on the light bar or the sleeper. I thought that was a DOT requirement...although I haven’t run in the US since 2004. 🤷🏻♂️ LOVE the red illumination on the gauges. I wish all trucks had the option to switch gauge (and switch) backlight colours, especially red (for night vision/reduced eye strain). I’m not as much of a KW fan as I am of the Pete, but you’ve got a nice truck and it’s great to see the old iron being kept on the road.

Legend of the Bandit by Jerry Reed You heard about the legend of Jesse James And John Henry just to mention some names Well there's a truck drivin' legend in the south today A man called Bandit from Atlanta GA Every gear jammer knows his name They swear he’s got ice water runnin' in his veins A foot like lead and nerves like steel He's gonna go to glory ridin' 18 wheels Ah honey hush Well he left Atlanta back in '63 Haulin' him a load up to Tennessee He hit Monteagle and it started to rain So hard he couldn't even see the passin' lane Well he started down the grade when he lost a gear He reached for the brakes found he had no air The Monteagle grade is steep and long And everybody that seen it thought the Bandit was gone Listen now Well his truck jack-knifed turned completely round He was comin' down backwards bout the speed of sound A lot of folks seen him and they all say He had his head out the window yellin' clear the way Well he got to the bottom safe and sound Everybody asked Bandit how he made it down He said folks when the truck picked up too much speed I just run along beside it and drug my feet You heard the legend of Jesse James... Every gear jammer knows his name...

Is it just me or was it common to run the older trucks at a higher RPM? It sounded like this driver was winding her tight. My truck falls flat on it's face at 1,800. I always shift at 1,400. A buddy of mine's dad has a few old trucks. I rode with him in a 74 Autocar he has. He racked that that to the moon. My dad taught me how to to drive and he always said to shift at up shift at 1,700 and down shift at 1,400. My truck gets better fuel mileage at 1,400 and 1,100 so I pretty much keep it in that range. Just curious if any of you old timers could chime in. Is that just the difference between a mechanical engine verses an electronically controlled engine?
