Kenya scraps some tax hike proposals as protesters rally in Nairobi

Kenya’s government has retracted plans to impose multiple tax hikes, the presidency said, announcing amendments to a controversial bill as police fired tear gas at protesters who gathered near the parliament building.

Tha title of the video states “Kenya- Nairobi tax hikes.” The proposed tax hikes are not just for people living in Nairobi but in the entire country regardless of region, from the young to the old, middle class to unemployed, from bread to cancer treatment. Yes, the government will not provide health coverage for terminal illnesses but they want to tax treatment for terminal illnesses. That’s why people are angry NATIONALLY, not just in Nairobi.

The cost of living in Kenya is nothing compared to the developed world. One piece of mango fruit bought in Kenya at a cost of 20 shillings cost an equivalent of 350 shillings in Australia. Ovacado bought in kenya at a cost of 35 shillings is equivalent to 500 shillings in Australia. Kenyans complaining about cost of living looks like a joke to Australians. Today many Australians are moving to third world countries & working remotely becoz of high cost of living in their own country. This is a phenomenon throughout the entire developed world.
