As someone with an engineering background who has travelled through JKIA over 200 times in the last 10 years to airports in other parts of the world, I can say with confidence that there is nothing fundamentally wrong with the JKIA that can not be fixed with good maintenance , modest capital expenditure and completion of the construction work already ongoing. Building a new airport is "a nice to have " . Kenya has other priorities. The propensity for large public projects is driven by other interests

Wacha waKenya wajenge airport wenyewe - why should we outsource as if we don’t have builders and engineers in our country?? Every other country maintains its airports with funds raised from within. They have regular maintenance schedules to follow which keeps costs low. That’s a better system to adopt rather than giving the airport away to a foreign entity for 30 years, and a corrupt one at that.
