Attitudes to dowry differ in Kenya. Sometimes the woman's family requires it and sometimes they do not. In other instances, a family will ask for a token dowry during the engagement ceremony that costs next to nothing e.g. a basket of millet or something of the sort (to reinforce in the man's mind and family that appreciation or acknowledgement of the work done raising their daughter in the absence of actual dowry).

A bride price was initially created with a virgin bride. Not a used woman. That's the main issue with the bride price issue. Also, they can leave after you've paid for them. And they won't pay the money back. The bride price thing is ridiculous in this day and age. Since none of them are virgins.

What are you saying? Bride price isn't a payment really. At our place it can be as low as $2000 or livestock worth the amount. It is just a way to make the marriage official culturally. The payment itself is more than a transaction. It is an event where two unrelated families meet and become one. Nobody forces one to give that either. It starts with the man.

Sounds like dowry is an award for producing a beautiful woman who will be a good wife. Well, many parents do less well, so maybe those who do, deserve a reward. Every tradition has its own customs, and you have to wonder how they may have taken root. Dowry is incentive for parents to raise desirable wives of their daughters, which will vary depending on the culture.

Few things here to unpack. When you use the term foreigner, many focus on White men. I also suspect a white Kenyan might even get pulled into that label. "Foreigners" (whatever the race" will usually (though not always) come across more caring when they are on a mission to bag (or bang). Many know the stereotypical ideas women have of them (through the ample social media) and use it to their advantage. They put their best foot foward until they don't need to. By the time they show their true colours the lady might already be trapped and/or too embarrassed to say she got it wrong. I can agree that some Kenyan men also take their women for granted (which is a real shame) but not all. So as the lady admitted, its all on individual merit. I'm also certain the men will have their own gripes about the ladies. This is one of the more balanced videos, but the rise of Social media, is also helping to perpetuate those fake ideas of perfect love with "White men". And I also think less educated women are more at risk. But thankfully, many Kenyan women are slowly waking up to the truth. They are starting to disregard the hype. I am glad she was able to honestly admit that a large proportion of Kenyan women blindly believe foreigners are better to marry. But she also appreciated that there is good and bad in every race and culture. For the records, I am black. I have been to Kenya and have dated beautiful Kenyan women before (living in Kenya and living locally where I am). I don't make videos like this but I'm highly into understanding cultures so I do alot of my own research. I also have my own experiences and the experiences of others I know, to add to my insights. Oh and I prefer Mombasa to Nairobi because of the weather and I found the people distinctly friendlier.

Here’s a question I’d love answered. Say your getting to know a Kenyan woman n you n both state want marriage and as an American your ready but concerned could have a husband bf Kenyan in between video calls or beyond the phone screen? Advice how to find out if still married or involved ?

First you need to go to Kenya and have do the 3 things, 1. Show you where she lives and preferably you should ask to stay over for at least 2 nights at her place to make sure it’s really hers 2. She needs to introduce you to her friends 3. Most important…. SHE NOT YOU MUST SUGGEST TO MEET HER FAMILY! I also would suggest not sending money. If you are sending money in order to keep her interest you may want to ditch her. You tell her you’ll take care of her while you are here and once you get married. I know a few personally who have more than one boyfriend overseas and get money from all of them. If you met on social media or dating app AT LEAST 80% are looking for foreigners for money … whether you white or black. The trick is to find a good one. There good ones here but the vast majority of the bad ones are the ones who go to dating apps

From my experience African women actually do tell you what they will bring to a relationship. They are very familiar with the phrase "the way to a man's heart is through his stomach." They cook for you. They also are the same with sexual intimacy. "As much as you want." They know how simple a man is. But they do want to be provided for. Definitely interested in money. As a Western man sometimes it does feel too transactional.

Even previously uncontacted tribes like Hadzabe and Yanomami have it in its simplest form - honey, baboon meat, bananas. I guess it is part of the human nature which is changing. As late as 1880s, my people, Abagusii of Kenya didn't even know about the existence of Arabs and others but we had the bride price thing.

The usual day temperature for Nairobi is between +22 +28 C in Nairobi and +29 +32 C in Mombasa. There is no place to swim in Nairobi (besides pools) and there is an ocean in Mombasa. It could help to choose a city.

Corn gluten is different than wheat gluten. And the whole anti-gluten thing is crazy. None of the healtiest cultures have this concept. Not a part of the Mediterranean diet. Not part of Okinawan diet. Only a thing in the trendy West. Personally I'm super regular and have no GI issues. I'm not a vegetarian but eat a low meat diet. I think this was strange to talk to a kenyan woman who is more than likely very Traditional, and when she expects something like a man to provide for her, you make her feel like its wrong. No, you are supposed to be a provider, shes choosing you over the kenyan men who are taking her for granted because she expects you to do better. If you dont want to be a traditional man, dont try to date traditional women then change them to make them just like the western women you try to get away from. I believe dowry’s were only meant to be paid for virgins when it was first created. I don’t think how many men she had sex with will determine how well she treats the right man though, and if she treats you right you should treat her accordingly.
