This is from time. I went to Jamaica in the early 1990s with my now ex husband. Our Jamaican friends took us to a dancehall and said "Look over there. See those guys? We call them Rent a Dreads. " They were young guys hooking up with older , mostly white women. So when I moved to the Caribbean and I was young still,vin my early 30s, I avoided guys with locks not because I don't like seeing them but I don't want to be accused of being the girlfriend of a Rent a Dread. Now I'm 56 and I still have young men trying to talk to me every day. It's annoying. I don't want them. But unfortunately tourists have set this expectation. I'm not a tourist. I've been in my country for 23 years and I'm a dual citizen. So I avoid these "age ain't nuthin' but a numba" boys.
