Can you do a video of your face makeup routine (like the foundation, powder/baking, concealer, blush products) you used performing. I don't think it would break character integrity because face makeup usually depended on personal preference unlike the specific eyeshadow and brow look they teach you per character.
@LaraAkal7 жыл бұрын
love this makeup look and all the advice!! Definitely great for auditions of all sorts! That foundation looks SO amazing, I'd totally like to try it someday but it's kinda out of my budget rn! 😭 Kind of a random question, but still makeup-related nonetheless- did you learn any other makeup tips and tricks you didn't know before that came from your time working at Disney either from fellow performers or just from what you learned in training and performing? (for me, the experiences I've had working in musical theatre/acting/opera/dance and the wonderful ppl I've worked with while performing have taught me pretty much everything I know, and I still have such a loooong ways to go w/ makeup, but it's all been super helpful!)
@mackenzienhughes7 жыл бұрын
That's a good question! Honestly the majority of my makeup knowledge comes from working for Sephora. There's not really anything I learned while I was at Disney, but I would help other performers with their makeup! I think the biggest thing I learned was having another performer recommend this particular foundation for me!

@mackenzienhughes7 жыл бұрын
This is probably the fullest coverage foundation I've ever worn, but I also really love the Mac Studio Fix Fluid foundation a lot! I feel like it really works with my skin type! A lot of the full coverage foundations are matte but I have dry skin and I feel like they make my skin look dull. But they would be great on someone with oily skin! But those are the only two full coverage foundations I've ever really liked.

@mackenzienhughes6 жыл бұрын
There are actually lots of face characters that have full length costumes! Unfortunately you're not allowed to cover it with makeup (or use that as a solution), but they still might hire you in roles where the costume would cover it!

I have a couple questions: When you are a face character, does Disney pay for the makeup that you have to buy or is it provided? Also, when there are DCP only character auditions, have most of the people there been accepted into the program already by the time the auditions roll around or is it possible to audition while your still in submission, for instance? I just wasn't sure about the timeline of applying and that whole waiting period. Thanks! (:
@mackenzienhughes7 жыл бұрын
All of the supplies for your costume are provided by the company! Depending on when the audition is, it could be either way. My first DCP audition was only a month or two after the applications came out, so I was either the only one in my group or one of the few people who had been accepted into the program. But I'm sure if the audition was later then there would be more people who had gotten in. But you can't be accepted as the character performer role until you go to an audition and get the role there. So I went into the audition knowing I was accepted in the character attendant role. So to answer your question, you can go to the audition while you're in the submission process. You can even go before you submit your application too (I think).
@maeve80297 жыл бұрын
Oh okay, thank you! (:
@amberthatcher736 жыл бұрын
Hey! I'm going to be applying for the DCP in January/February when the application comes out for Fall 2019. I have been watching your Disney videos like CRAZY! I just wanted to say they are really helpful. You seem so sweet! Thank you for all the tips. I'm going to apply to be a Character Performer and attend auditions. I was wondering, are glasses allowed for cast member positions like character attendant or photopass or attractions? And would you recommend wearing contacts to the Character Performer auditions since you'd be wearing them as the characters? Also, do they actually apply makeup to your face at a DCP Character Audition? Again, thank you so much for your videos, I love them!
@mackenzienhughes6 жыл бұрын
Awww thanks Amber! That's awesome that you're going to apply for the DCP! I wish you the best of luck :) to answer your questions: 1. Yes, in fact I wore glasses often when I was a character attendant. The only time they're not allowed is if you're in a role, such as a performer, where the character you are portraying does not wear glasses. 2. Yes, I would recommend not wearing glasses to the audition if you could wear contacts instead. If you are hired in a face performer role you will need to wear contacts. 3. In one of the last rounds they will put you in costume and makeup. This is usually only for the auditions where they have the resources to do so (such as in Orlando or Anaheim). It seems they don't usually have this round when they host auditions in other cities such as Seattle, Chicago, etc. I would still recommend wearing minimal makeup, as you will likely have to wear makeup for your role. But you don't want it to be too bold so it's easier for them to picture you as any character. Ex: I wouldn't recommend wearing red lipstick even if you believe you have characteristics similar to Snow White. The casting directors might have other ideas in mind :)

this is probably not a question you have a full answer for buuuuut here it is anyway! I'm only 5'1" and I realize that I can only play 3 face characters, basically. Should I wear makeup to make my eyes bigger and that's it? Or would they bother to considering me for taller roles?
@mackenzienhughes7 жыл бұрын
I would definitely accentuate your eyes! All of the characters have bigger eyes and I feel like that would help you no matter what role you are chosen for!

This was one of the doubts I had. I don't use makeup and I don't know if I should do it for the audition. Any advice?
@mackenzienhughes5 жыл бұрын
You definitely don't have to wear makeup at the audition! But wearing makeup specific to your role is part of the requirements of the job. They do train you on how to apply the makeup related to your role, but just know that if you're hired you will have makeup that you're required to wear.

if they tell you not to wear makeup to the audition, would it be okay to still wear some minimal makeup if you have pimples or dark under eye circles?
@mackenzienhughes5 жыл бұрын
Personally, I think that's fine. My interpretation of that is to not wear full-on makeup like you see performers wearing in the parks. Mainly because if you are picked to get put in costume they'll put makeup on you too. I think it might be easier to envision you in different roles if they're working with a clean slate. I don't know the official answer, and I don't speak on behalf of the company, but I've seen girls wearing minimal makeup at auditions and it's been fine!

I can't remember any "best" questions off the top of my head, but she got asked about dinglehoppers a lot! One of her favorite dinglehoppers was one she found with Flounder. She was playing hide and go seek in the kelp forest (which Flounder loses at all the time because he's bright yellow and sticks out like a sore thumb), and she saw something sparkly catch her eye! She swam closer and realized it was a gorgeous dinglehopper covered in pearls! It's definitely one of her favorite things in her collection!

I had a question, they said that you can only apply to disney every 6 months, does that mean if I go to an audition for character look-a-like one day, can I still go to a parade performer audition the next day?
@mackenzienhughes6 жыл бұрын
You can try! What I meant was that they keep your scores for 6 months. So you wouldn't need to go to a look-a-like audition in February and then again in April. Parade performer auditions are for a separate role so I don't think that should affect it. Again, you can go to as many as you like! I think they just tell people that so they don't need to feel the pressure to go as often.

Just for curiosity’s sake, do the face characters have the ability to see the pictures they’ve taken with guests?
@mackenzienhughes7 жыл бұрын
Cast members do have a way of looking up photos up to an hour after they were taken. Mainly character performers and photographers though, they can look it up on the photographer's system. But the only other way they would see photos is if the guests posted on social media (with a public, not private, account) and used hashtags. I've also had guests send me photos after seeing my KZbin videos which was pretty cool! We really don't get the opportunity to see photos that often!

I don't wear any make up at all which I know will be fine for the audition, but if I do get the role, are you required to wear full coverage foundation every day on the job? I know eyeshadow/blush/lips are mandatory but what about foundation? Love your videos girl 💕💕

Good luck at your auditions!! Foundation is required as well, but it's one of the few things where you can wear whatever foundation you like. So you can choose to wear a full coverage foundation or a light foundation (from what I can remember). The rest of the makeup was provided.

No, I left in June of 2016. I left because I didn't see myself living in Florida long-term. I had also recently graduated from college with a bachelor's degree and knowing how hard it was for my friends to get jobs in their fields I realized it would be better for me to start sooner rather than later. So long story short - I loved my job and my time at Disney but I had to make the decision based on where I saw myself in the long run!
