I hope they address this one but from the perspective of a nobody I’ll say...give him something to lose. A 13 year old thinks “what’s the worst that can happen. Spankings ain’t happening any more sooooo...” Let him know how much you love him but since he wanna act grown he can leave ( although you’d never do that) Give him responsibility early and break the importance of it. My mom just died on Valentine’s Day and she had the same issue of me going from being her little man sitting under her to having my own desires, interests, friends, likes/dislikes etc. His love for you never changes but he’s still learning himself and has little to no idea the effect it’s having in your relationship with him. My mom made the mistake of thinking we drifting apart and went with that and our relationship was never the same. In actuality I wanted to be stronger for her. Anyway... give him responsibility and structure where he can see progress and you can grade him on his progress. The little baby thing is gone. You’re now working towards a good respectful adult relationship. You see celebs and athletes these days always giving props to their moms and it’s for these moments. Oh another thing you can do is have a mom son date night/day. Where you can share thought about life with each other. Sorry I know this was for the guys and I hope they help but just wanted to give another perspective
