@@pseudonym9215 The naming is usually done by "others".. the name "India" is coming from the people who lived around the river Indus.. That's how the ancient Greeks referred to Indians, but that doesn't mean everyone in India lived around a river.. Just like that, the name of the language "Malayalam" is coming from the other.. and as one side of Kerala is mountains, it is the language of the mountain areas.. That doesn't mean Malayalam is just spoken in mountainous areas, as the other side of Kerala is lush lakes and backwaters..

In India, probably Kerala is the only state where people love water and the boat services are used extensively for transport and livelihood. This could be because Kerala is the only state in India which is not just covered but in built with water at most places in the form of lakes, rivers, waterfalls and even ponds at many temples. No wonder Kerala is the best and most beautiful state of India with abundant natural resources. So, people born in KErala are grown seeing all these and in earlier days, it was one of the favourite passtime of kids and youth to spend time with friends in and around pond or river and the daily routine including bath in ponds. Even today many of those pilgrims who visit Sabarimala take compulsory bath in temple ponds or rivers as available on their route. And one of the best thing about Kerala and even its people is that till now they have no polluted their rivers or ponds or even sea coastline, though slowly with developing times, more of wastages are found in all these places, with no Govt., Corporation or Panchayats or even people serious about maintaining these natural water habitat in its purest form. Kerala is lucky to have such natural resources, but seems people of Kerala doesn't value their own resources as both greenery and natural resources are getting destroyed. So, Keralites are naturally water and boat people, while in rest of India, people are scared of water and all the water resources are spoiled or made dirty with no care. Kudos to the people of Kerala for maintaining whatever they have and their passion for nature, though foolishly rest of India might laugh at it.
@prakashsivan1234Ай бұрын

@jayaprakashbalan2510Ай бұрын
@@prakashsivan1234 Absolutely agreed, things are not as clean as earlier. And I am sorry that you could only find rivers and ponds which are dirty. Govt. and people should take responsibility to clean it. However, it also means that you have not seen the real rivers and ponds of other parts of India and so you will never know what is the real meaning of dirty. atleast Kerala rivers and ponds are better, I might agree that its not as clean as it should be.

Stitched ship making is an Indian Ocean tradition. It has nothing to do with Egypt. There is no evidence of building a ship/boat by stitching planks of woods together using a rope.

They settled rivalries by boat races. They don’t over fish when the fish are spawning. All comes from the water, sustains life, goes back to the water. Feels like our “advanced” Western way of life won’t sustain on land near shores with global warming, etc. But the Maliyali’s have got this covered too; they build their homes on raised land. They are prophetic to have kept their ancient and self sustaining way of communal life. Doubt many on Prozac, 😂 lol.

Very poorly produced film piece, with a lame voice-over. 😒. Narrator barely attempts to correctly pronounce "Malayali" or any other local word including the name of the state. Tries to imply that the "MALAYALI" is some sort of water-dwelling boat people like in the movie Waterworld. There are 30 million MALAYALIS doing a lot of other things. This French guy tries to show Malayalis as some sort of Amazon rain forest tribe with a 1990s National Geographic feel. And worse are the lame-a** actual Malayali commentors from Dubai and around the world clapping for this crap. Take a trip home once in a while and see the real Kerala, with so much diversity than just boats !!
