Kerala's Kollam junction levelling up with exceptional, world class amenities

With an aim to provide a convenient and hassle-free experience to the passengers, the Indian Railways has been swiftly upgrading the railway infrastructure across the country. Kerala’s Kollam Junction Railway Station is being redeveloped under these efforts. The station will receive near complete overhaul at a cost of Rs.361.18 Crore. The southern and the northern sides of the station building will be redeveloped. The existing building of the southern side will be demolished in three stages. The operation will set off with the construction of a new service building on the northern side. A revamped three-story southern terminal, with a built-up area of 22,655 square metres, will not just have adequate space for the passenger movement but will also have additional amenities including waiting halls, restaurants, information centre and more.

Indian Railways are re- modelling only some ofvthe Stations, whereas, other Stations facing utter neglect for years t'gther. The Railway officials are neither attending, nor caring for such stations like Irinjalakuda Rly. Stn. located between Chalakudy & Thrissur Stns, interestingly, that Station is equally important & a revenue earning Stn. for the Railways, but, Railways are not caring for it, neglecting, avpiding, doing nothing in thst Station forvyears together.!!!!???.
