Dear Flor Ortiz, I am going through the same thing. I am a visual artist, painter, interior designer and writer (and illustrator). I hope you find a solution. What I am here to say however, is I hope you have a support system. Big help huh. What I know that has, helped me - is additional sleep and daily vitamins C, B 12/complex, and D3 or any other D's. And believe it or not: Walking. My eyes achieve better focus. I can go from triple vision to immediate reading ability with relaxation, meditation, sleep. I do not have a family or friend support system Flor, so taking my time to pull up my bootstraps - and that has had a positive effect on my self esteem which is taking a beating...and Be VERY, I mean VERY, careful of doctors whom prescribe Prednisone or drugs in general. Your photo represents a very beautiful girl and I wouldn't want that to change for you like it did for me due to the use of that horrid drug. That particular drug altered my internal systems, brain chemistry, and I aged twenty years, virtually overnight, after going off this prescription. I have two acquaintances at last count whom avoided that drug after watching what it did to me and my life. If I learn anything at all, I will find you at this site and let you know. You remind me of me. I know exactly what you mean by worst nightmare. Also, mine started in my right eye and traveled to my left as well, and so on. Like you. I'm not sure if it makes any real difference with regard to HOW it happened (TheThey are still guessing; know that) as opposed to the: "what do I do now..." which is far more important. Watch out for doctors who claim to have answers, and like I said, steroids did not aid me one iota, and they will cause more side effects, which lead to life problems (my face turned into a cauliflower like image; once I was asked if I was "doing meth amphetamines") and you do not need any (more ?) of those types of scenarios. And you do not want to lose that beautiful hair either. I lost mine due to that drug. It will only replace your bodily systems with some false pretense and when you go off them, your body will have to go back to the drawing board. Reinvent it's functions, and you will have to be flat on your back for a while in order to see that take place. Trust me. [I won't mention how long it took me to get some energy and relief back; I do not plant seeds. Be careful what you read, you don't need any more fear or worry; just work your gut - and stay Positive.] Note, when doctors place people into comas to allow their bodies to regain memory or allow the body to restore function(s). It took me about a year to figure that one out. Don't take steroids; it won't help keratoconus (that avenue is not in existence). Just live life precisely how you want, eat a good diet, drink lots of lemon water and sleep more. Close those eyes/rest them when possible and enjoy your dreams. The unconscious gets real special under these circumstances. The doctor whom is soliciting up above, runs a good organization. I began communication with their office in early 2017. They are trying to track down a solution. They do not however, take insurance of any kind. But I would make an inquiry for treatment, as they will provide you with updates through the mail, and I have found that very comforting and informative. It might help your mind too. I said to a former friend at the outset of my knowledge on what was happening to me in 2016, I said to Bob on the phone: what is your greatest nightmare and he said going blind and not being able to see the sunset. "Bingo" I said when he asked me what's wrong. Then I got a note from this "friend" months later from Palm Springs; I am in Oregon, that said words to effect: I have friends with AIDS, I have friends with cancer, I don't know what to do with a friend that is going blind. {by the way I am; I'm in later stages - which does not mean whatsoever, that You will be} but here's what I want you to do... You look fairly young, so I am going to assume the fact that there are people around (maybe to a good extent), that KNOW what you are going through. I want you to re-think your stance and feelings about how you wish to represent yourSelf, and then be that Girl. If you were watching a movie say, and you saw some girl that was headed into a form of disaster, wouldn't you vote for her to get tough ? I know you would as would I. It's just a tip. Stand outside of you for a while, and make an attempt to establish who you want to be. That is what you will be remembered for. Not some oh my gosh, I'm losing my eyesight wimp. Show them who you are. I'll tell you why a) God or Whatever, does not inform people with zero capacity. You might even be one of His guinea pigs but this is a time to shine. You've educated your surroundings; now, be You. SHOW THEM WHAT YOU CAN DO. b) Most of your associates will run to the hills, the minute they are convinced you are going blind, if that should occur, get them as far away as possible. No matter whom they are. c) Learn skills. I had a guy once ask me, so are you going to learn braile, and I said in response um no. Not with this technology; I'm going to learn how to tell a five dollar bill from a twenty. I know this is hard, but you cannot place your head in the sand, Flor. d) If you never go blind, or become in any way outside of your dream for yourself and life, you must respond to the conditions you have been faced with. Whatcha going to do ? e) First you calm. Don't contact relatives. They will either consume your time with their thoughts and conditionings (and guilt), or you'll end up in a fight. They have no concept of where you are at, either in life; especially life, or they're chatting about you behind your back. Keep them at arm's length. f) It's a deep fight. It is very, very, necessary, that you come out on top and people like you. Some have said to me, I do G's work too. No they don't. We're the heavy lifters. This is a bad disease; I would prefer cancer thank you. We didn't get cancer did we. We got something that seems to be a swell, as in an ocean wave. Well at least W.B. is attempting to make good and I am glad they are advertising in Beverly Hills so that it may get some fricken traction. I am on your side. La Donna,

@DrBoxerWachler5 жыл бұрын
Our youngest patient has been 8 years old. This condition usually begins developing in teenagers. We see every week 20-30 Keratoconus patients. Your local ophthalmologist just may not see a high number of Keratoconus and is not aware that the condition tends to develop in teenage years. The sooner you have treatment the less vision loss you will experience. Please have your parents reach out to our office. Treatment can be performed over a 3-day visit to Los Angeles. Dr. Brian developed treatments for Keratoconus in 1999. 99.3% of our patients treated were stabilized in 1 visit with Dr. Brian. You can visit our website: www.KeratoconusInserts.com You parents can contact the office at: 310-860-1900 or info@boxerwachler.com

I am writing from all the way from India!! I have been a keen observer of your worked!! I have even sent photos of my eyes through your website for photo review. I have really puffy, yellowish , bloodshot eyes that I have had for several years now. I am 23 years now. I don't drink, smoke or anything else. I am not a food lover, so my intake of vitamins and needed minerals is a bit. Yet, still could you please just review the photos and possibly tell me what the problem might be!! I am a big fan of your work and would like to get my eyes whiten in the near future!!
@DrBoxerWachler6 жыл бұрын
If you sent the records recently it usually takes 7-10 days to review and send back results, depending on how many photos are received from varies individuals. If you sent he photos longer than 10 days ago, they may not have been received, please try to resend to info@boxerwachler.com This treatment doesn't address puffy eyes. Puffy eyes suggest that you might have blepharitis or meibomian gland dysfunction. Please have your local doctor rule those out.

@@DrBoxerWachler thank you so much for the reply, Dr. Brian. The pictures were only sent recently about two days ago. It's not puffy, but more of a yellowish colouring. Also, there is a sort of brownish colouration around the cornea of the eyes and there is a larger number of bloodshot veins. Eagerly waiting for your review, Dr. Brian. With love from India.

My vision has been deteriorating rapidly for the last 3-4 years. first optometrist I went to for new glasses just said it was bad astigmatism and there wasn't anything she could do except offer new glasses that helped a little bit. went to a different one and that's where I found out about keratoconus. I have an appointment with an eye surgeon in Houston later this month. I've already gotten a traffic ticket because I wasn't able to see the speed limit sign in time to slow down. letters are beginning to 'meld' together, and I confuse 'a' with 'e', and sometimes 'e' with 'o' and like 'Q' with 'O'. It's affecting my performance at work and at school. My employer has already suspect something is wrong and if I lose that job I am soooo fucked. astronomically fucked. I live check to check and go to college part time on my own dime. I haven't been at my job long enough to qualify for health insurance, and have no idea how I'm going to pay for this. what do people do at this point? I mean, if i lose my sight I'm calling it a night on life. I'm not going to live like that, having to depend on someone just to function as a regular human being. anyone out there with this condition in a similar situation? how did you cope with it? is there light at the end of the tunnel or is it just a pipe dream?

There is hope. Many of our patients raise money through a GoFundme account fundraiser. You might also reach out to your local Lions Club to see if they can help donate money - many help patients with vision related issues with their humanitarian efforts. Explain you are trying to avoid a conrea transplant and need help with the cost of procedures.

Dr. Brian developed the non-invasive version of Crosslinking, called Holcomb C3-R Epi-On. He worked in the research lab from 2002 - 2003 to determine how to eliminate the complications associated with CXL. In 2003 he began treating the first patients. The patients treated in 2003, 99.3% of patients were stabilized with a single treatment. Less than 1% have needed a 2nd treatment. Olympic Gold Medalist Steven Holcomb was treated in 2008 and went on to win Olympic Gold in 2010 in bobsledding. Previously he believed he was going to have to retire from the sport. The Olympic committee researched and found Dr. Brian's technique. As a result of the awareness Steven brought to this non-invasive procedure we named the procedure in his honor Holcomb C3-R.
