*Here it is: MY TOP 5 (well actually 6) products to treat KP.* Please watch the full video as I explain how to choose products that will work best for KP, the must have ingredient for all KP skincare routines and my top 5 recommended KP products. Also bare in mind these products are all drugstore or online products that you don't need a prescription for. (KP is a chronic condition and for severe or resistant cases you may require prescription medication). Thank you all for the views on my previous videos. I'm so pleased you found them educational. Let me know what products are you using and how you are getting on with them. The ingredients in the *CeraVe SA smoothing cleanser (UK)* and *CeraVe SA body wash (US)* are almost identical except for 2 ingredients. The US version also contains corn oil and cholecalciferol (vitamin D). You may use either for KP. :- *Any questions are welcome - as usual* 😊

Good afternoon Doc Thank you for this information on Kp. Can I use all 3 CeraVe products at the same time?
@DrSimiAdedeji4 жыл бұрын
Hi, You're welcome. Yes you can especially if you are using them on skin other than your face because the skin is generally thicker. I would start with the cleanser and SA cream and then add in the retinol if you are not seeing enough results after about 4 weeks. i would also introduce the retinol gradually using it 2-3 times a week initially to start with. If you start to get irritation such as flaking of the skin, dryness or redness from using the retinol, (this is an acclimatisation period) I would cut down to once or twice a week and gradually build up from there. On the face, I would start with the cleanser in the morning and the retinol at night.

You are a gift! I am 50. Struggled with eczema since senior year of high school. My mom never really spoke of such things and I found out much later in life that she struggled with it as well as many family members. Long story short we didn’t have the money or knowledge to do more than cover up and only see the doc for major flare ups. No discussion about triggers, or products to avoid in between. I don’t have a college ring because I was too embarrassed to stick out my hand to try rings on in public. People would flinch or look at my hands , arms and neck with pity. I was well in my 40s with good insurance and a thought to start self care. I am doing well but wish I had black women who were dermatologist to really see and understand. A slew or white men up until my 40s. I am actually still struggling to find one here that isn’t booked out months in advance. I want to focus on my face. You thrilled my by mentioning the light patches in another video. Everyone focuses on hyperpigmentation. I have some of the opposite that I want to stop covering. Anyway, SO happy you are in this space. Will share with my family. Your skin is gorgeous!

This is the best KP video on KZbin. I was just watching a video by the ADA and they provided the following KP tips. 1. Keep baths and showers short 5-10 minutes. 2. Use a mild, fragrance- free cleanser 3. Gently exfoliate (AHA, BHA, Retinoid, or Urea) skin once a week 4. Use thick moisturizer on your skin. Look for moisturizers that have urea or lactic acid in them. I personally alternate between lactic, urea, and retinoid body lotions.

I love this video and confirms that my new skin care routine will work. I always had amazingly soft skin in my teens and 20's, but in my 30's I've developed KP. For the past few weeks I've been using a salicylic acid serum with vitamin C, a salicylic acid exfoliating cream for the shower, and I've been mechanically exfoliating with a sponge. I mosturize daily, but I don't exfoliate daily, but a few times a week. I'm already noticing quite an improvement, although I still see little dots but they're not bumpy anymore but possibly more like a left over scar that hopefully will fade.

I'm new to your channel and I love it! Thank you for being so comprehensive and straightforward. This video is really helpful. Not sure if you already covered this in a different video, but I'd love to see a video on "black skin myths". Speaking from my own experience, I'm mixed race (black, indian, chinese) and primarily have African features. I usually get my eyebrows waxed (pre-COVID) and once after my skin turned red after waxing, my esthetician commented "You have such thin skin for a black person!" 🙄 What? I'm sure she was trying to cover her shoddy work, but it's not the first time I've heard that. I have combination to dry, sensitive skin and supposedly people think black people don't have that? Or our skin is "tougher"? Which of course is problematic. My esthetician is Indian, I live in the Caribbean, where POCs say racist statements all the time and not even realize it. So hoping you can address that. Looking forward to bingeing all your videos lol.

another great video thank u! when using the cerave body cleanser and body washes in general do you recommend using body loofas/exfoliating gloves? even if you do it gently?
@DrSimiAdedeji4 жыл бұрын
You're welcome! I usually don't recommend physical exfoliants in skin care especially for the face because of the risk of causing hyperpigmentation in darker skin tones. Exfoliating gloves/loofahs when used incorrectly or even correctly but on sensitive or darker skin types can also cause hyperpigmentation. Of course, not every person who uses a loofah will have this problem and many people with darker skin tones use loofahs and exfoliating gloves with no problem. I general prefer the gentler action of chemical exfoliants to "dissolve" the glue that holds the dead skin cells in place, without irritating the skin. If you are going to use an exfoliating brush or loofah, use it gently and stop using it if you start to notice it is causing hyperpigmentation.

I have learned so much about the skin from your video’s! I am fair & blonde. I have been struggling for over 10 yrs with bumps on my jaw line. I have seen 3 dermatologists with really no help. I’ve been told it is acne or folliculitis. I’ve tried IPL but I have to shave and that makes it worse. Then, I have light hair, so the laser doesn’t work that good. I am needing to shave every day Or have a beard. Sometimes twice. The hair is course stubbles and when I pluck there may be two hairs coming out of the same follicle. This condition started probably around menopause. I am so frustrated and so tired of it. It has taken over so much of my life. I do have bumps on my neck also, but no hair growth from those. I’ve been told that bumps on my neck are from sun damage. But to me is looks and feels like chicken skin! Do you have any suggestions or ideas? I am open to anything since I can’t get a definitive answer from any dermatologist I’ve seen. Basically I been told to just live with it. There has to be something better!

Hi. I love how you explained all reasons and I feel now educated on this. Are those product suited for Asian (sensitive skin)? Also, can I use them to treat backacne??

Can you please make a video on how to get rid of scarring. I have some scars on my face that I’ve had from when I was a kid and I also have a load of scarring on my legs that I’ve never had any luck to get rid of either. This has been my number one struggle for years and KP topped it off 😞
