Going back to publishing after the vacation break, during which Michał's video got me thinking a lot. So, I'm coming back with my own take on the state and the future of UX Design industry - to calm down those who felt threatened or discourage.

I personally think that the issue COULD be not that all designers become obsolete, instead the some% best designers will do all the work by letting AI do all the repetitive boilerplate tasks, while focussing on the hard parts which neither AI nor beginner UI/UX can do. This will increase the barrier of entry by a lot

I think that was the most accurate prediction that I saw up to this point. I think that may be the case as well.

As they say "We'll live to see" future is always secret, but it seems to me that it's not so easy to replace people. Especially if we are talking about "critical thinking". Nice content, all the best! :)

Thank you! As you said, we will see, but this 2025 got me concerned :)

Great video! It's clear you've put a lot of thought and research into your perspective. What advice would you give to aspiring designers looking to break into the field and stand out in this dynamic environment?
@KerevDesign Жыл бұрын
1. Make sure you know the craft (how to design stuff), 2. Create portfolio with at least 3 detailed case studies, 3. Position yourself as a "designer" not "junior designer". I'm actually thinking about series of videos/course/digital product that will help with that, but it will be a while before I will publish it.

I'm convinced that the beneficiaries of advancements in AI have shattered all the projections and calculations.

UX isn't in danger because of AI or anything like that, it's because there will be less and less businesses to do UX for. UX isn't dying, the businesses are.
@KerevDesign Жыл бұрын
From what I can see, there are those big companies or trust funds that progressively monopolise markets. I think where now we have thousands of choices (in terms of employers) - in the future there may be hundreds.

@@KerevDesign I'm not optimistic about anything to be honest. Not for lack of will or desire, but from what I'm seeing and how things are unraveling. I'm predicting this: AI will actually help us indirectly. AI will WRECK half the jobs out there, and all those people will start opening small businesses. That will last for 2-3 years, and we will have a huge spike in work. And then it all dies out. Completely. So you have about 3-4 years to re-spec. your talents for another branch of IT.

@@TheMarouuu what alternatives would you recommend that doesn't involve completely learning a whole new skillset from scratch?
@TheMarouuu Жыл бұрын
@@joeldias494 Ooooffff, that is a million dollar question right there :) For a UX/UI person, I don't see a lot of related skills to be honest. I personally would get into cyber security. The way I see it, I have around 2 years to slowly re-spec in that field. I see cyber security as toilet paper, as in everyone does and will need it the future as well. But there's a lot to learn about sec, it's a very broad field. Luckily there are platforms now, so to put it in VERY simple terms, there will be a Webflow level tools for cyber security, as in you just monitor and click around without doing much programming. Those would be the lowest level jobs. Honestly I can't give you good advice, that's the honest truth.

I totally agree with you, and appreciate you talking about this. Many KZbin influencers' opinions about this field being over and that field being over are just baseless opinions. AI is there not to replace but as a helper. I've being observing and evaluating these trends for the past six months or so, I think that AI will be a part of the workflow just like a computer is, but it will not replace humans. Many influencers are just trying to gather views by reporting baseless negative news much like news channels. God bless you. 😊

as someone who is getting into the field of design, It was one of the biggest concerns that AI will replace the jobs or there will be no future for us aspiring designers
@KerevDesign Жыл бұрын
I don't know why people are even saying stuff like that. The A.I. that is presently in the wild is more of a technical demo than fully fledged product that can replace designers. Even this generative stuff sucks most of the time.

@@KerevDesign a lot of fear mongering and trying to capatilize on the ai news to get some internet points. But I do feel a bit concerned sometimes when I see how artists are straight up giving up when it comes to digital art. There are accounts on Instagram and patreon that are selling ai artwork ☠️
@fredmchale2340 Жыл бұрын
There will always be a future for designers even if AI tools become production ready in industry standard tools. Design is much more then pixel pushing.
