Kermit, I love drama in it's proper context but TV's so called "reality" and reprocessed hack jobs has pretty well turned me off on TV altogether. But for a show about the planes in your museum, the hunts for them and all the bazillion pieces it takes to restore them, the hours of repetitive work to put them together- I'd make a real exception. You have a great staff of gifted, knowledgeable people to show off. You deserve to have them seen and appreciated. I'd like to make a suggestion; also do segments about some of the professional shops that also do this work, and highlight what they bring to the table, as well things like the restoration of PT boats and other complex historical machines. All the best, Happy New Year and wish for all to have a much better year than last!

It's amazing what a difference there can be an engine builds, my dad was in the Navy from 67 to 90 and he worked and flew on a lot of C-54s, C-118s and HU-16 Albatrosses among many other aircraft. He said normally they would receive their engines from Garry Engines but half the time they didn't run very good and would use a oil and have various other issues but they had a C-118 come through on the way to the Boneyard that had a low time engine on it, (R2800) and they got permission to remove it and replace it with one of their High Time engines, this particular engine had been built by NARF, the Naval Air rework facility in Pensacola and he said that particular engine required different settings because it made more power and ran better than any of the other engines on that aircraft or on the other C-118s and when it reached its time limit they were able to get extension after extension as far as he knows that plane went to the Boneyard years later with that engine still installed

Many of the thousands of ex WWII Allisons were used in the Oilfield to power Frac Pumps, Yes Fracturing is not a new energy production system. Allison engines and even a few Merlins were used. Kermit, Just my humble opinion: Excellent video. The video quality is finally approaching the quality of the collection. Just 10x more, then 100x more, and the videos will be worthy of the collection :) I think you could work out partnering with a game developer, 3D scanning companies, camera companies etc... Matterport and Blackmagic come to mind for hardware. Most difficult would be rationalizing paying a cutting-edge production company to produce and edit the final products. The digital museum seems like it would influence the most people, for generations to come. Maybe just 8k videos of landings like this video has, would be a great addition. Some IP that you could create would be the world's best 3D models of each aircraft you own. These might make money in video productions and games via licensing.

My very first air show i attended with my dad in about 1987 In Mt.Pleasant Michigan I got to see a mustang and a pink p40 that was painted that way to blend in when flying over the desert in the war and is hanging in Kalamazoo air museum now and I've been bit by the warbird bug ever since with them assume v12 engines
@mikehalm1643 жыл бұрын
Newt, the planes in the era you're referring to were not painted pink. They were olive drab to begin with, but due to the very high temperatures, the planes essentially baked in the sun and the OD faded to the pink hue. Sue Parrish owns or owned the P-40 you've seen. She was in the Women's Air Corp duing WWll. I don't know if she is still alive, but she often flew along side of someone I knew during Oshkosh many years ago. He thought she was an excellent pilot. She was a principle of the Air Zoo, which is why her "pink" P-40 hangs in the museum.
