This video walks through the instructions to replace a B58 stock turbo with a stock turbo or stock-replacement hybrid turbo.

Holy shit, you don’t even have to remove the passenger side engine support arm like on the n55 or lower the subframe or do some other things like on the n54. B58 is awesome

The liquimoly turbo additive that goes in the oil port, is this in place of dry firing the engine/ priming the turbo or in additiin to?

Started on this yesterday, and like you said nothing goes easy lol. Car has 79k all highway. I fought to separate my daw dp to my mid pipe. The lines coolant and oil were brutal but managed to wiggle em enough to get a gap and then slowly work em out. The bmw heat blanket that goes over the watergate had a rusted snap and tore. I’ve searched parts catalogs and can’t find it. Any ideas? It’s definitely easier to remove with the dp removed as you did. I’m installing my new DAW. Thx

Love your content, really helpful. Quick question on the plastic clip on the charge pipe c clip. Is this needed to reinstall the stock charge pipe? Or will the c clip on its own hold it enough you think? I'm replacing the water pump, so would rather not have to replace that, id guess it would be a whole new CP? Thanks!

Great video - need to pick your brain if you don't mind. I had to replace my intake manifold, therefore lost pretty much all the coolant in the auxiliary system...do you know if I can just simply fill up the reservoir, and begin the bleed process for both systems?

Yes, you should only need to bleed to aux system unless you also drained your main tank

Curious, when you're under the car and pull the coolant line after pulling that heat shield back; what is that open hole directly above it? I'm busy with mine, yours is open as well, but mine looks like it's been used at one point. Thanks

Hey just have a question, I pulled the plug on a flowmax turbo was wondering if after I install the turbo I can still use the ots maps on mhd while the upgraded turbo is on ? I know I won’t be pushing the turbo like it’s suppose if I don’t have a custom tune .

This is a great video. I've been using this one instead of all the others because he isn't skipping super important steps like the other videos. Also, does anyone know if a tool exist to pull the oil and coolant lines out of the turbo ? I can not get these things to pull out. Any help would be appreciated.

Great video, would you happen to know the part number for the v band that connects the hot and cold side of the turbo? Just want to be prepared if it doesn't want to come off like the one on my downpipe did.

Just a lot of patience. You can use a screw driver while pulling or loop something through it for leverage

Would this work for all b58 engines I have a m140i 2018 like a tit I unscrewed the nuts if I Count the bolt threads closer to actuator (I see 5/6) would it be the same for my car?

I am waiting for my Vargas GC+ turbo kit to arrive with the intake manifold and port injection. I've been trying to do research on how long it should take to do this install because the bmw techs are telling me it's going to be 25 hours to take off the stock turbo, manifold and lpfp and install the new upgrades. I find this hard to believe because when my car got diagnosed, they took off my turbo within an hour while I waited in the service area but now all of a sudden it's going to take 25 hours?! There's no way an intake manifold with port injection and lpfp upgrades should add an extra 20 hours or whenever bmw took off the turbo originally in less than an hour.....smh

Sorry to bug again, but I'm a novice, and would rather get advice/knowledge from someone with experience. To my point, when priming the turbo, and disabling the fuel system, you mention "unplugging your HPFP" does that just require unplugging the 2 wire harness attached directly to the HPFP?

You don't need ISTA to calibrate the wastegate. I made a whole video on how to do it yourself. Look up b58 wastegate calibration

@@kern417 I ended up putting them at 10ft lbs. didn’t want to risk over tightening them and that’s about what I felt like it took to break them free.

No but some may come out depending on how long the car has been parked. When you turn off the car, all the oil begins draining down to the pan. My car had been parked for a while so no oil came out

I just did a pure 800 on my car and my turbo oil inlet gasket has ripped and dumped all my oil out 3 times any idea what it would be?

Downpipe vband is 19nm I can't find one for the turbo itself

When I get my Doc Race kit tuned, the plan is to keep it at or below 550 WTQ so that the clutch can hold it

Stay away from dynamic autowerx turbos, mine went out after 7k miles. Yes I did all the mods that were suggested and used a great tuner docvu

Sorry you had a bad experience but that doesn't mean there's something wrong with the turbos. Reach out to DAW and see if they can get you sorted.

@@Bouhlev yeah after rounding 1 too many bolts i always try 2 and go with what fits best. Especially things on the exhaust side of our cars are soft metal
