Kernow Construction finalist for the 2023 Minister of Defence Industry Awards

Kernow Construction was nominated for the 2023 Sub-Contractor/Small to Medium Enterprise of the Year for Products provided to the New Zealand Defence Force. The company built a standalone Military Working Dog facility, a first of its kind as part of the Ohakea Infrastructure Programme. The construction incorporated bespoke requirements, including a hydrotherapy pool for Defence's much-loved dogs. Coupled with Defence's specific health and safety requirements, this project required high levels of flexibility and value engineering while delivering the best outcome within budget. They used local sub-contractors and supplier with high levels of craftsmanship and quality and invested their own funds to test and build some elements. With 18 full time staff, over 200 sub-contractors, Kernow brought over $6 million into the local economy.
