Hey thank you so much for making this video! Super easy to build and I love playing it!
@elliotyeager5 жыл бұрын
how are you getting midi input from your keyboard to the talkbox?
@ths4535 жыл бұрын
Elliot Chael there is no midi connection, the keyboard audio output goes into the amp, the amp output goes to the driver, the audio from the driver goes into the tube, the audio from the tube resonates in your mouth and the sound is shaped by using your throat, tongue, and lips just as your natural voice is
@KeroDean5 жыл бұрын
Thats right. The midi keyboard plugged into the computer is producing an audio signal that is going from the PC to the amp and then into the talkbox

Dude! I live in California and make music that includes a blend of California sounds. No Zapp and Roger for me though because I don't have the spare $200+ for the Banshee-- until now! Your under-$50 design is awesome! Just ordered the parts and will be psyched to be talkboxing shortly. Thanks so much.

Can you show how you plug the driver to the back of the amp
@KeroDean Жыл бұрын
Hey, I no longer have that setup, but from what I remember I used some rca to speaker wire cables, the rca into the 'output' and plugged the wires to the terminals of the talk box, because the talkbox is essentially a speaker so you hook it up like a speaker.
@mrmoustachemusic10 жыл бұрын
yo man, thanks for the video! Just wanted to ask you how did you send it to the keyboard and if its midi keys or synth..

Its midi keyboard, I used a VST instrument sent into the amplifier

Did you have to use a capacitor on your driver
@KeroDean3 жыл бұрын
I don't recall using one

Someone told me i had to connect a filter beetweent the amp and the horn driver. To protect it from low frequencies. What do you think about this do you use one ?
@100100110011001101017 жыл бұрын
Yes, you definitely need a filter. Depends on the compression driver your using.... look at its recommended frequency range, and find an appropriate crossover coil, and capacitor
@syntheticvocalist-p4726 жыл бұрын
Okay where do you plug the positive and negative ends into? Also do you need a midi keyboard for this?
@program174 жыл бұрын
Positive and Negative go to the left and right from the amp, you plug the synth to the amp, sound comes out the tube, then you mic the tube.
@alanidron21337 жыл бұрын
Hey great vid - just to be sure I got it - did you have s synth plugged into your amp that went into the compression? You must of had some sound source to shape the speech with?
@bzakie24 жыл бұрын
The sound is coming through the tube which is then stuck in his mouth.

I'm not sure, I did accidentally delete a comment and I couldnt undo it sorry :( I would say this one is pretty good although the MXRM222 is more convenient because its all of this built into a small package

I assembled all the parts but the driver intermittently gets extremely loud and then quiet. Is an amp, or cable problem, or is my driver broken?
@Fast4VVard3 жыл бұрын
would I be able to just plug into my interface with this set up minus the amp? or do I need an amp to drive the sound?
@KeroDean3 жыл бұрын
You need the amp to drive the sound, because its the sound waves or vibrations that make the 'robot' voice in your mouth cavity. Although if you mean plug the 'talk box' speaker driver into an interface, I'm not sure it would have enough power output.
@aunvamak13755 жыл бұрын
How does connections works? What are both colored cables? And where can we buy the male out of stock?
So the speaker wire, does it hook into the amp as positive and negative? Is it possible to strip a quarter inch cable and use the positive and negatives in it so I can hook into an input jack, I'm not entirely sure how it works.
@KeroDean8 жыл бұрын
+Tanner Jackson yeah you just need two wire cables one from L and R out of the amp to the input of the horn driver. The input of guitar/keyboard goes into the input of the amplifier. Think of the horn driver as a speaker its only the output
@EcuaGangsta49 жыл бұрын
nice..if i want to but the cable.how would you call it?.and where can i find that kind of pa amp?.thanks in advance

How can I use this with a DAW to record with? I am a bit confused on how to hook this up without an output from the talkbox. In your demo you are coming out of the keyboard, into the amp, and out of the amp into the talkbox (speaker outs correct)? So where is the sound (talkbox) going to? Confused ..LOL

Where can I get an amp like that? Or if there is, a cheap version, because I have a fairly tight budget.
@KeroDean9 жыл бұрын
+Joel Dallison Any amp is actually fine, even a guitar amp, just make sure the impedance is the same or you could damage the amp. "Most talkboxes have an impedance of 16 ohms. The rule of thumb is that, if possible, you want to set your amp to the same impedance as the load (speaker or talkbox driver). However, you can use a load that is greater than what the amp is designed for. The amp just has to work harder, and will produce less output power. If you have a choice between a talkbox driver of 8 or 16 ohms, stick with the 16 ohm model. Otherwise, you run the risk an impedance mismatch that could cause your amp to fail." quoted from here www.ultimate-guitar.com/forum/archive/index.php?t-912855.html

awesome man, how does it sound?
@jmelavender9 жыл бұрын
KeroDean Hey there, I haven't had a chance to record it for you-- it sounds awesome, just like yours. However, I replaced the plastic tubing with the same size but in silicone. The plastic was too hard to use comfortably, even though I boiled it (which helped straighten it but didn't affect the hardness). I ordered it through amazon at (amzn.com/B000FOWGGW) and it is much better, though because it's more bendable it can crimp and cut off sound. I'm working on possibilities for solving that, such as using the plastic until the mouth piece and then attaching a piece of silicone to the end. However it works out, it's awesome and I'll be forever thankful! :) Jamie

Jamie Lavender that's good to hear, glad I could help. I hope you find a solution to the hardness problem
